I agree with “It’s a beautiful day” about the elderly drivers are a reason that you will pay so much, but other reasons Florida’s insurance is so high is because of the salt spray coming off the ocean damages your cars body, by corrosion, as well the hurricane’s causing so much damage to autos. If you have had no accidents, tickets, or anything, shop around you may get a cheaper rate then you think, But keep in mind the factors of why you pay more. I rather pay more for insurance now then have a hurricane take my car away and have to pay out of pocket for a new one.
Another thing you could do is that if you have someone up here like your parents or someone in a cheaper state, you could keep your car registered at their address for the time being, or until you get in a better financial position.
