Question by Matthew A:
Why does the engine size of a automobile make so much difference in automobile insurance quotes?

How is it that automobiles with larger engines are much more costly to insure? Surely a 1.0 litre automobile and a 2.5 V6 automobile both travelling at 70MPH for example will cause the same amount of damage (albeit the automobile that weighs more might have more momentum).

I cannot seem to work out the other side of this arguement. Is there anyone who could explain the difference please?

Thank You!

They state it has to do with repair cost along with the fact that many automobiles with larger engines are bought by people who like to go fast. They do not need proof of their theories they just need a reason to charge you more, that is their way. Insurance is to be viewed as a necessary evil, they are all crooks but they have superior lawyers, what other company besides the government could pass a law that all citizens have to buy their products.
