Actually they are not always cheaper, but they certainly spend millions of dollars on marketing to make you think they are. I beat Geico and Progressive on a daily basis. But price is only one piece of the puzzle. An agent should spend time to get to know you and your needs and then help you decide which coverages you should get and which ones you should skip. After all, saving money on insurance doesn’t help if the policy doesn’t do what you need it to.

It’s not. Those are ‘bait’ rates, set up to get you to enter personal information. Then your personal information gets sold to agents, as leads.
You can get just as cheap rates using an agent. Agents aren’t allowed to charge MORE than the filed rates, for insurance that you buy. Companies aren’t allowed to have two sets of rates, one for agents, one for direct sales.
As to safety, you want to only buy through the website of the insurance company – not one of those comparison places that, well, harvests your personal information. Is it good? It’s as good as the coverage you buy. Most problems happen because you forgot to tick off a box, and have a claim with something not covered. Your fault, not theirs.

Yes online auto insurance is cheaper since the overheads cost are less. Secondly they are safe and as good as what you get from an agent since the online marketing is done for standard insurance companies with good standings.
INTERNET marketing has gone a long way and is becoming more and more reliable and standard since the online marketers also have their own business, reputation and also rules which they need to follow.
