Question by nineinchfairy:
trying to get a automobile insurance quote?

I’m trying to get a automobile insurance quote on the web and they ask some questions i do not know what they mean like:
1-anti-brakes? (what this means)
2-defensive driver course? (what this means)

Answer by Rhymes with Orange
1: Anti-lock brakes (also known as ABS)

It’s a safety feature of most new cars. Basically, what it does is keep your brakes from skidding when you press the brake pedal to the floor in a panic stop. When the wheels lock up, you can’t steer because the tires are sliding. ABS will “pump” the brakes for you, keeping the wheels rolling, while giving maximum braking… this will grant you to still be able to steer while braking.

2. Defensive Driver Course

You can get a video course at Blockbuster. You watch the video, take the test online, and then they mail you a certificate. This means that you have taken a current course on defensive driving. Defensive Driving means you drive in a way that is less-likely to result in an accident. You do not have to take a course, but doing so can really lower you insurance rates. There are many other ways to take the course, I know some comedy clubs even offer them.
