WILL I HAVE TO PAY IN SMALL CLAIMS COURT FOR MY CAR ACCIDENT?!?!?
Dec 1st
Question by Will:
Will I have to pay in small claims court for my automobile accident?!?!?
I hit a parked automobile while making a U Turn a few months back. I was NOT filed a ticket, i called my insurance company and they handeled the case with the other parties, then a few days later i got a call from the other celebrations telling me they wanted more money then the automobile insurance was giving them…they eventually sued me for 1500 in small claims, they didint show up so the case was dropped. Eventually i got a summons in the mail saying that their insurance company is suing me on behalf of them for 3700! My insurance company appointed me a good lawyer from what i read on the web but my question is that if we do loose the case will i have to pay the 3700 or will my insurance…this is happening in illinois by the way and it is in small claims court.

WHAT GOOD ARE ATTORNIES IN CAR ACCIDENTS?
Nov 28th
Question by bsatwc13:
What good are attornies in automobile accidents?
What good does attornies for accidents they do not help you receive more money, receive it any faster, and if the insurance companies can still get by not paying for all of the medical bills and if they will not even help you receive your lost wages from loss of work sooner. From everything I have read on the web along with answers recieved on my other question about my automobile accident, it appears to me that theres nothing I can do to get my lost wages sooner, make them pay all bills occurred from the accident, or even get a settlement faster than I would w/o an attorney. So why hire an attorney who will collect 10 1/2% of any settlement I might eventually receive if having an attorney does not protect your rights or help in anyway?

Changing the color of my car? How much does the DMV charge to change my registration?
I am from Illinois.
Car is currently blue, but I will be repainting it Desert Sage Metallic in the spring, which is a greenish color.
I know I need to inform the DMV of the color change, but should I contact insurance as well? I dont want to get hassled and stopped constantly because my plates come back to a blue automobile when its green.
Where can I find more information about this online?

CAR REPOSSESSION, CHANGE OF ADDRESS, LIENHOLDER INSURANCE INFO?
Nov 22nd
Question by justice4008:
car repossession, change of address, lienholder insurance info?
I moved from MN to CA, changed insurance companies and forgot to notify the automobile lien holder of my address change. One year later, my automobile just got repossessed because the lien holder did not have information of proof of insurance and sent notices to my last known address, so they added their own insurance and raised my monthly automobile payments. I was not aware of the defaults due to the higher automobile payment rates, as automatic monthly withdrawals in the same amount were made for the past year: looking at the statements online, everything looked normal. When I was insured in MN, I never had to notify the lien holder that I had continuous proof of insurance, as my old provider did it on its own. When I came to CA, the insurance broker maybe did not even ask about the lienholder and for sure did not communicate with it. Should the lien holder have tried another way to contact me, such as via my bank, and should the CA agent have inquired about and sent the info to lienholder?
Ok, it is good to see the range of perspectives.
Detail highlights, I suppose it might help others looking for answers:
- change of address: I called a few times at the beginning to change the address but the line was always busy–the ideal answer as someone else pointed out–send a letter in writing if calls do not get through and there is no on the web change of address box.
– yes, if the agent knew about the lien holder, the standard practice is to notify the lien holder; however, my question was who has to raise the issue, would an agent as part of her job ask about any lien holder/loss payee or is it up to the client?
- re: partial payments, not sure if acceptance prevents repossession, good question.
- the other question: are people liable if they did not know they owed the money? but it goes back to notice and address change.
- another Q: the lender stated it will not reinstate the loan, not because of wrongdoing, but because they do not want to loan in CA as they are in MN.
