Is it Bad to Let Your Automobile Insurance Run Out Temporarily?
The insurance on one of my automobiles will run out in a few days, and the other one will run out at the end of this month. I was thinking of just waiting until the end of the month to get a new policy so that it will be more convenient and from now on I can renew both at the same time. Of course, I do not plan on driving automobile #1 until I get the new policy.
Is this a bad idea? Can insurance companies charge more if you let your insurance run out, even for a short while?
(They usually ask you when you are getting a quote online.)

I’m a 20 year old who just passed my test 3 weeks ago and I cannot seem to get a quote lower than £2400! I am the registered owner of a 1.2 V reg Vauxhall Corsa, however it doesn’t seem to matter what automobile I am driving.

Mbr firstly i’d like to say, with no disrespect, that your mind set is truly discouraging in the fact that you assume that it’s a “wish” car. Why do not you think that I am a HARDworking student whose parents have the means to afford luxury? I am on my way to a scholarship to Johns Hopkins for both college and medical school as I aspire to become a cardiothoracic surgeon without naming too many of my accomplishments. Secondly, thank you for the honest response. Taking that into consideration, I will simply obtain a dealer plate under my father for a mere 6 grand a year (covers up to 30k costs).
P.S.: The automobile will not be brand new as it will be from the Adesa Auto Auction and therefore will cost a mere fifty-sixty grand with ~30k miles, which is absolutely affordable.

When you ask for a quote for insurance from Netquote can they pull a credit report on you?
I clicked on a link to see what quotes they would give me for auto insurance and after about a dozen quotes, I started getting rejected for insurance. The reason I was given was “too many inquiries to my credit record.” I enquired and was told that over 14 insurance companies had ran a credit report on me. I never gave them a social security number or anything–they just ran one. I called and they stated they had the right to do this–it was in the very fine print of the terms of the offer. I can’t find where it states they can run a credit report on me.

Anyone have GMAC auto insurance? If you do, please share your experience on how they apply discount and handle claims. I ask around for quotes on the web and the 2 insurance that gave me good quotes are Wawanesa and GMAC. Both seems to be good company but I would like to get some input from my fellow yahoo users. I currently have Allstate but their prices keeps going up instead of going down for all the discounts they put on my record ie. good driver, Home Owners, multiple policy and renewal. I ask the agent each renewal but they keep telling me that the insurance rate is going up in California which I doubt should happen each 6 months.
