My automobile was vandalized and there was about $1100 in damage. I”m paying the $500 deductable and my insurance is paying the rest. Will my rates go up?

I’m an older driver now but remember what a nightmare it was to get insurance. Extremely over priced compared to a new driver of an older age. I know its about statistics but how can you judge what a drivers like before they have even started driving on their own.

On Sunday, I was at Home Depot. I came out of the store to discover some a-hole hit my automobile with a metal shopping car, leaving orange paint down the side and a good sized dent. Two witnesses came up to me and gave me a description of the automobile and the license plate number. I do not want to pay a deductible, I want this jerk to pay for it. If I call my insurance and tell them about it, will my rates go up? How else can I get this guys information to take him to small claims court?
