Answer by mdel
check Progressive- I am in my 20′s and I just got my own auto insurance for the 1st time- they gave me the ideal rate.

Answer by tggrbounce9
Where do you live? You really have not given us much to go on.

Answer by Mommyof3
I just recently switched to Progressive and then someone hit the side of my van. They were wonderful. I never had to go out of my way to get it taken care of. They have a place to drop it off and they give you a rental automobile right there. They called once a day to update me on my van. It was really nice. We also had a claim that was my husbands fault and they were just as nice about that as they were about the one that was not our fault. Customer service is priceless. Some companies let that part of business fall through the cracks, but Progressive really focuses of Customer Service.

Question by chuck jon:
Will my insurance company find out about my other accidents?
my insurance company knows about my first automobile accident. since then ive had two more accidents. ive heard that if i look up personal automobile insurance quotes my current insurer will somehow be alerted. i obviously dont want that to happen so i want to make sure before i give my information out.

——————————————

Answer by Chris
If it was me, i would stay where i was insured until they found out. If you put it out there im sure they will be alerted. just a guess.

Answer by Fred C
What, you are a bad driver and you think you can continue to hide it? Not a hope in heck. If you change insurers, you have to answer a question about any accidents, at fault or not, in the last 3 or 5 years. Lie, and it comes out when you make a claim, your claim will be denied.
Your present insurer might or might not ask you for a new disclosure, and they might or might not check public records on accidents. However, after that one accident, there is an excellent chance they will.
Don’t change companies, your rate MAY go up.
Change companies, it will either go up or you will have your insurance summarily cancelled/claim denied for failure to disclose a material fact.

Learn to drive, and do not try to game the system or the system might bite you back huge time.

Answer by Abay S
All claims get into a central Database called ISO. Do not lie.Remember in this time and age, anything you state or do, gets recorded somewhere and is available to any one at click of a mouse

Question by coolbeankatie:
confused about automobile insurance…stacked, unstacked??
i am looking up automobile insurance quotes on the web and for Uninsured Motorists Bodily Injury Option there is a “stacked” option and a “unstacked” option.

Does anyone know what this means? What the diff is? This is for PA

——————————————

Answer by tonalc2
Stacking is the application of more than one policy limit to the same loss or occurrence. In some jurisdictions, courts have required stacking of limits when multiple policies, or multiple policy periods, cover an occurrence.

For example, Uninsured motorist bodily injury limits of $ 100,000/300,000 on two policies owned by the same person might be added together to pay a loss. In this event, the total amount of coverage available for an accident would be $ 200,000/600,000.

Answer by Lawnboy & Luna
If you select “stacking” and there are two or more automobiles in your household, you can potentially collect from both policies, yours and the other household member. I believe that PA grants both inter and intra policy stacking.

For example, you are seriously hurt in a automobile accident and the value of your case exceeds $ 200,000. However, the driver who caused the accident is uninsured.

You have two automobiles covered on your own automobile insurance policy. You have chosen to carry Uninsured Motorist coverage of $ 100,000 per person for each car, and you have elected to stack your coverage. You now have $ 200,000 of Uninsured Motorist coverage available to you. A houshold member also has $ 100,000 in coverage, now you have $ 300,000 available to you.

However, if you do not elect to stack your Uninsured Motorist coverage, the most you can recover is your policy limit of $ 100,000.

I recommend you think about Underinsured Motorist coverage with the same stacking option.

Consider going to a local agent. An agent will be able to explain your options in superior detail.

Answer by Mike Q Girardot Colombia
ok HERES YOUR ANSWER..

If you have only one car then you get u3 (Unstacked) if you have 2 or more automobiles you have the option of (U) Stacking. What all this means is:

If you select stacking it will cost you a bit more, but now your coverages are doubled (stacked) so if you have lets state 10/20/10 now you have 20/40/20 coverage.

Hope this helps.

Michael…

Question by tj4ver06:
What is leasing a automobile all about?
What are the payments like? How long do you pay on the automobile or is it until you lease a different one? Is insurance higher or lower compared to owning one? After a certain amount of time do you get to lease a different automobile or can you select to keep leasing the one you have? What is lease to own? What are some of the rules you have to follow when leasing a car? And anything else that you think will help. Thank you!

——————————————

Answer by Naz102
Well it all depends on your location, I am from the UK so I can give you the general rule over here. When leasing a automobile the payments vary depending on the size and value of vehicle. An average medium automobile like a VW Golf or Audi A3 will cost you around £200 per month which is around $ 300 USD.

Many leasing firms will also put a cap on the annual mileage usually around 10,000 miles per year this means if you drive more than that you are liable to pay an additional charge, leases can last for as tiny as 3 months i think and can go up to 3 years, if you would like to change your automobile whilst still in your lease then it is at the discretion of the supplier to change it for you otherwise you will have to keep the same automobile until the end of the duration of your lease.

I dont think it affects the insurance premium it is really tricky these days with the prices shooting up, you will get more or less the same quote whether you own the automobile or lease it,lease to own I am guessing means at the end of the lease you have to purchase the automobile and they deduct what you have already paid for the automobile with the lease payments. hope this helps!

Answer by mccoyblues
Think of a automobile lease as being very similar to leasing a house. You pay for it but never own it, and the monthly payments are not based on ownership obligations.

Leases are set up for a specific time period, generally 3 years, some are 39 months. Rarely do they go longer than 4 years, and nearly never shorter than 2 years.

The payments are based on the value of the automobile for the time period you are going to be using it. At the beginning of the lease the dealer (actually it’s the leasing company) sets what they call the residual value of the car. This is the perceived value of the automobile at the end of the lease terms. Your payments would then be based on the value of that automobile minus the residual value. At the end of the lease you either turn the automobile in and walk away or if you want to keep the automobile you have to then pay the remaining residual value of the automobile in order to own it.

For example. Let’s state a new Chevy Impala has a MSRP value of $ 25,000. The lease residual value at the end of a 3 year lease is set at $ 12,000. Chevy’s have a high depreciation rate and a poor resale value so the residual value on a automobile of this type is low.

So instead of a loan payment based on the MSRP of $ 25,000, your lease payments are based on $ 25,000msrp – $ 12,000residual = $ 13,000. That $ 13,000 is the lost value of the automobile during the time it is in your possession. So your lease payments are based on $ 13,000.

That’s why lease payments are so low compared to a loan. But at the end of the lease you do not own the car. You still owe $ 12,000 if you want to keep the car. And if you decide to turn it in you will have all sorts of lease termination fees to pay for excessive wear, mileage overage, all sorts of extra fees they charge at the end of a lease.

Leases have their advantages but there are more cons than there are pros for the average joe. Sure they offer low payments but in reality if you want to own the automobile all a lease does is delay the bulk of the financial obligation to the end of the lease rather than spreading them out evenly over the length of the loan.

The ideal situation for a lease is a person who uses their automobile for business who can write off the expense, someone who needs to drive a nice new automobile always, someone who needs to keep their automobile in tip top condition, someone who will trade out of the automobile when the miles begin getting too high.

Answer by whocares
Leasing is only for the top tier credit customers.

That typically means people 25+ who have established & maintained good credit for years.

——————————————

Question by Jaymie:
Will my insurance agent know about my ticket?
I am buying a automobile sometime this month and will be getting it insured with my dad. The problem is, I recieved a ticket and points on my license the other day for running a stop sign while driving my friend’s car. I would like to know if I take the On the web Basic Driver Improvement Course, will my insurance agent not find out about the ticket? Will the BDI erase all records of my traffic violations? I would not want my father knowing about it either way.

——————————————

Answer by Ashley D
The BDI doesn’t erase the ticket, it just reduces the effect is has on your record. You agent will probably find out about the ticket. If you do not want you father to know, call the agent beforehand and tell them you had a ticket, took the BDI (which should reduce the insurance cost), but do not want your father to know. They might be able to help you.

Answer by Daniel C
It’s up to the judge as to whether or not taking defensive driving will help. At this moment the ticket has not gone to court, right? Or did you go plead guilty and pay for it? Insurance only finds out when they run your record and it only shows on the record if it was finalized in court.

Answer by dick automobile guy
By now, you should recognize you are too old to be running around like some 12 year old hiding secrets from daddy, part of life, is accepting and learning from your mistakes, instead of basing your relationship to father on deceptions and lies as you dance on your tippytoes (are you a ballerina?) act like a man, and admit your mistakes, it is so much easier, than you accidentally forgetting you forgot to tell dad, then forgetting you forgot to forgot to tell him anyway, so admit it, move on with your life, as long as you complete traffic school, nothing will appear on your dmv record, the only thing an insurance company can access about your driving is a dmv record ok? Be an adult, admit mistakes, do not do it again, if you did it by accident admit it, if you did it being a smart ass (and in front of a cop, you deserved the ticket)

——————————————

Question by Jenna N:
I’m scared to go to the police about my husband stealing my pain MD’S(his dad is a Miami ex-detective)HELP!?
I asked the following question before. I got excellent answers, however, many stated I should go to college to find superior people. Just to let you know I went to college, I have a graduate degree in Bookkeeping & I still owe $ 55,000 worth of student loans. I would like to change careers but I am struggling VERY HARD with my disabilities from my automobile accident that happened in 2004. I have had 9 operations since & I just came home from the hospital this day for the 10th time since. I went because I suffer extremely painful spasms that radiate from my brain stem to the left side of my head. I have Occupital & Trigenimal Neuralgia among other things. If I do not stop the pain the inflamation affects my motor functions & if left untreated I will have permanent brain damage. The automobile accident was not my fault. The person who caused this 3 automobile pile up on I-95 (where I was the middle automobile that landed on the automobile in front of me and then my automobile fell backwards) was obligated to pay me via their insurance paid their policy limit which was $ 100,000 within months of the accident. This just barely covered my hospital bill. My Lexus was totaled. I am in serious debt from this accident & had to take a large cut in pay because I physically can’t handle what I used to before the accident. My employer stated I am not the same person because of all the mistakes I make (which I never did before the accident). My employer is right (acknowledged by all my doctors), thus, I also have been told by all my physicians to go on disability. I am working on getting partial disability mainly for protection against discrimination for my current medical condition. I am granted to work while partial disability, The limited income threshold from receiving partial disability will help supplement from what I am making now. As far as religious groups. I have tried but it’s hard to be around people when you do not want to feel like a burden because of my ongoing medical problems. Also, the only sibling I had died in the auto accident & my parents can’t handle anymore stress so sharing this problem with them would be too overwhelming for them. I know this because I have hinted enough to see what their reaction would be. Finally, I am 37 with a 15 yr old daughter who’s staying with my parents for the first time in her life while I stay close to Nova University to be a guinea pig to receive any treatment available since their a “teaching hospital” in medicine who works closely with John Hopkins. Anyways, with that said, here is my question that I posted several weeks ago. Sorry for the lengthiness. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I’m scared to go to the police about my husband stealing my pain meds(his dad is a Miami ex-detective)HELP!?
I asked this question before but apparently did not provide enough information. I do not want to snitch on my husband. I have tried to hide the medication but he gets extremely angry (but does not hit me). However, I have been a victim of domestic violence before (where my ex-husband tried to kill my family & stabbed me with a knife) so I do not know if I am extra fearful about confronting him and/or putting my foot down; I was in counseling (as well as my family) for that for 5 years before I met my new husband who is well aware of my past. I have tried to speak to his family who not only is in denial or “tired of dealing with the problem” as they put it as long as he acts “productive” to them that is all they care about. Plus, he is a “momma’s boy” so it’s like he can do no wrong. The only time that I know (I suspect there were more now) that he was “busted” by them for abusing pain medication he stated the pain medication was mine. However, this pain medication was something he purchased on the web & took a much hire dose in a short period of time & when he ran out of those he vomited so much (as well as experiencing other symptoms) for 4 days before being forced to go to the hospital via ambulance (in front of his parents) & when he got there he was so dehydrated (he could not hold even Gatorade) that when his toxicology screen came back for opiates he was “clean.” He was honest to the drs at the hospital about his opium use & that is why they recommended he see a GI physician because his intestinal tract was in such bad shape due to ulcers from the pain med. However, since he also had food poisoning (as well as I but did not suffer because as much because I had a superior GI tract) and was given antibiotics his originally suspicious parents believed that it was just food poisoning & that this non-prescribed stash was mine, which has now ruined my relationship with my in-laws even though I told them to blood test me anytime & even offer me a lie detector test. I only take my pain medication when I have spasm from MS, and now occipital & trigenimal neuralgia that I was diagnosed with after a severe 2004 auto accident for which I have had already 9 operations. I never have dealt with someone with substance abuse but due to

Answer by A A
taljk to the doc who’s prescribing them for you; he/she might have some ideas on how to handle it; you are probably not the first….

Answer by T R
If you are frightened to go to the police, then you should not go to the police.

Other options include: (a) speaking to his friend or family about an intervention; (b) speaking to your physician about options for pain management that might not provide him with drugs he would like, or that would provide them to you in small enough numbers that he would not be able to sustain his addiction; or (c) urging him into some type of treatment program.

I am not convinced the police would be that helpful, even without his dad being a cop. It sounds like his problem is addiction, not that he is a criminal.

Answer by LovesTheConstitution
Consult your attorney. You can’t continue to live with a man who puts his own recreational “needs” ahead of your medical needs.

Question by AllorNothing AKA The Black MikeT:
Why should men care if women get paid LESS, if they do not give a DAMN about unreasonable automobile insurance for men?
The whole argument with women when asked about how they feel about male automobile insurance:

“too bad”
“that’s just how it is, deal with it”
“men are irresponsible”
“who cares not my problem”
“statistics state most men cannot drive as safely as women”

So why should I care if women are getting paid less for the SAME job a man is doing since:

Women are usually less productive than men
Women want to be flirtatious in the workplace
Women are always suing for sexual harassment
Women have to call off to have children or take care of kids.

And I could just use all of the above:

“too bad”
“that’s just how it is, deal with it”
“women are irresponsible”
“who cares not my problem”
“statistics state most women cannot work as efficiently as men”

Since the insurance companies “feel” men are irresponsible based on statistics.
Then men who have seen women consistently under perform ,compared to men, should just pay women less for the SAME amount of work.

BTW the “women pay more for health insurance” argument is old and tired. The Male vs. Female health insurance gap is no where near as huge as the male vs. female automobile insurance gap.
@ I Enjoy: I am glad you do not care about my “whining”

Because I do not care about you are problems associated with you being a woman: pms, sexual harassment cat calls. I am a man so It’s not my problem right?
Tristan: Ok sounds reasonable.

——————————————

Answer by Pat
Good point. I am still an suggest of womens’ rights though since not all women feel that way.

Answer by Guido
That is why some people are equalists while others are feminists.

Answer by I Enjoy Hats At Rakish Angles!
I DO care about any inequality that is based on false generalizations. But if you are coming across as a whiny misogynist then most women will make a point not to admit they concur with you…

Also…
“Women are usually less productive than men” Like any guy, not if they are at a job they care about.
“Women want to be flirtatious in the workplace” Not true, especially if they want to get respect and get promoted.
“Women are always suing for sexual harassment” Not ‘always’, only if they feel they are being harassed, and that in some way should be addressed, but preferably not with a law suit.
“Women have to call off to have children or take care of kids.” In order to continue the human race, people are going to reproduce. Not happy with women quitting their jobs to take care of kids? Then be a stay-at-home-dad.

——————————————

Question by alana hartmann:
Question About Reopening a Traffic Case: Traffic School Riverside County California? *10 Points* ASAP?
I got a traffic ticket in Temecula, Ca which is a part of Riverside county. I paid the fine as well as extra for Traffic School without going to court. I did this all on the web through the Better Court of California. They were suppose to send me the additional information on when to begin and how to complete the course to get the ticket removed from my record. I never got the information and to be honest I forgot until I got the insurance bill and my auto rate jumped $ 100 for loosing my good driver discount. I went to the Traffic Court and they stated I needed to write a letter asking the judge to re-open my case. I am unsure about what it should state and what needs to all be in it. Can someone please answer all three questions below? 10 Points!
What should the letter say?
How should I format it?
Is they any good web forms?
Thank you!

Answer by Earl Guerrero
I’m not sure if anyone can solve this question with the info you are telling us. You should describe a tiny more so that we can help with more confidence. Just a thought!

Answer by John S
There is no form for this. You should write it just as a business letter. Explain that you signed up for traffic school and paid the fee, but never received the information you were told would be sent to you concerning how to complete traffic school. Ask that the judgment of conviction be vacated and that you be granted to complete traffic school. I would recommend NOT mentioning that you forgot about it. There is no guarantee that the judge will do this, but it could be worth a shot since they already have your money.

If I submit an modified grade transcript to the auto insurance company looking to get a good student dicount, do I have to worry about them calling the school to check. Is this a realistic concern. If they do, what are the real consquences?

Answer by Raul G
donr worry, they dont check, well, they didnt on me, they just took my grades as i brought them

Answer by vamedic4
They require proof, in the form of an official copy of your grades. No copy, no discount.

Answer by M3
Consider this. Is the discount really worth getting cancelled if they do find out?

Hi there, the automobile is still available for the price of 5.800 EUR and that I am awfully sorry for the late reply. The automobile is in excellent overall condition, never involved in an accident. The automobile is still Irish registered.I worked in Ireland for 2 years and the company i worked for was dissolved and i had to move back to UK. I am selling it for this price because the UK registration taxes are to costly for me.
Please get back to me.

Hi Jane,

I currently own a ’01 BMW 3 series and a ’01 Mercedes S320 and have decided to sell the 3.2 litre Mercedes as I cannot justify forking out the exorbitant €1566 per annum road tax – and the 17-20 mpg is not an incentive to keep it either.

I just checked and the tax on your own 3 litre is not much cheaper.

I was actually just going back to my BMW until I saw your ad, and despite the high tax bracket I am still interested because it’s a more fuel economical diesel.

Maybe I could have a look at it as soon as suits you?

The automobile is in eBay’s custody in London, UK and they have the right to handle the transaction in my name.
If we come to an agreement the automobile will be delivered directly to your home address and the shipping&insurance cost will be 300EUR, and i think it would be fair to split the costs in half, so we will have to pay 150EUR each. The automobile will be shipped by truck and that will take up to 3 days. The transaction will be fully under eBay’s surveillance, giving us both security and insurance that nothing will go wrong. They are acting like an inter agent in this transaction. From the moment the automobile arrives at your address, you have 5 days to see and test it which way you like. Within this period you have to decide if you buy it or not.
To register this transaction at eBay, I will need your full name, address and a contact number.

(END)

- I just got that last reply a few minutes ago.

The ad has since been removed ( I just checked as I wanted to show you it via a link) and in that ad the registration was partially whited out.

What state you and how should I respond?

Looking forward to your replies.
By the way – the ad was in Carzone.ie and NOT on Ebay as you might been misleadingly led to believe by the latest communication there.

——————————————

Answer by G. Whilikers
That’s a scam, all right.

eBay has totally no involvement beyond the auction itself. They do not do any form of escrow, handle the product or monitor the shipping.

Answer by Janez
Yes I would state it is a scam. Did you check the headers to see where the email really came from. Check the following link to learn more about scams and to see just how many are on the net.

http://www.scamvictimsunited.com/phpBB2/index.php

Don’t respond to the email. Just let it go and who ever it is will go away sooner or later.

Answer by tj
It is a 100% scam.
Do not reply to this person any longer. Always remember the old addage if it sounds too good to be true then it probly is…….
I have seen lots of these type of scams over the years on ebay and other world wide web sites. I have even had junk emails of this w/o even inquiring to someone.
