Do automobile insurance companies offer discounts on automobile insurance to those enlisted in the military. I am going to be going off to the air force soon and I have decided i’m definately not taking my car. If I happen not to sell it either and just leave it at home, how do automobile insurance companies help with that? Do they give discounts to those away on military duty?

My insurer gives me a much lower auto insurance quote if I state that I am married. I could state that my imaginary partner doesn’t even drive. Are there any consequences to listing myself as married? Can it come back to bite me?

-I live abroad
-I’m a U.S. citizen
-I will purchase a used automobile in California
-I will drive this automobile for exactly 1 month this summer
-I will then park it at my parents home for the winter
-It will not be driven until next year
-Most insurers appear to offer only 6 month policies with massive cancellation fees.
-Companies in the UK, AUS, and SAfrica appear to have 1 month policies.

What do you think about Progressive Direct automobile insurance?
I am purchasing a new automobile and for the first time automobile insurance. I have been shopping around on the web and Progressive Direct has the ideal rates for me. I also looked at getting Progressive through an insurance group in my area, which would cost more per month for the same amount of coverage. Would it be worth the extra per month to get the insurance through an insurance bureau in my area?
