Can you resume your auto insurance policy one it was canceled? ok it was canceled 5 months ago I was not using the automobile so I did not need insurance at a moment. Now I am planning on using the automobile again. Can I just call them and ask them to send me a monthly fee and get insurance resumed or do I need to go to insurance place and speak to Insurance sales agent and pay 0 finders fee again? I do not want to pay those fees again. Is there a way to resume my insurance without those extra fees. I am a California resident.

I have been thinking of “loaning” my automobile (which I own) to my 87 year old father. I would then lease a automobile for myself. Then at the end of the lease period (let’s state 3 years) if he is no longer driving, the automobile returns to me.
