I have not had any claims on my auto insurance and I have been with them for 8 years. I backed into a parked automobile (no body in it) and the estimate to fix it is $ 2360. My deductible is $ 500 and there was no damage done to my truck. Should I file a claim or pay out of pocket.

CAR INSURANCE CLAIM- DOES THIS SOUND RIGHT?
Dec 26th
Question by Erica:
Car insurance claim- does this sound right?
Ok so I live in Canada, I purchased my automobile in Canada however it’s originally from the says and it is done in miles. I got my automobile 3 years. It is a 1995 Mitsubishi mirage (only sold in the states, however the dodge colt is the Canadian equivalent) When I got the automobile around it had around 90,000 km (54,000 miles).
I got in an accident at the end of august, writing off the car. The automobile was repairable but the fixes were worth more than the automobile was. The automobile had 135,000 km at that time and everything worked perfectly, I never had an issue with it. The interior and exterior were in good condition.
The original automobile insurance quote for my automobile stated I should get $ 4500 for it, however, I got a phone call this morning saying BECAUSE it is American they do not really have a comparison (but they do- the dodge colt)and I will only get $ 1800 for my car. I could’ve sold it for around $ 3500-4500 before I crashed it.
What do you guys think about this? I do not know very much about insurance.
oh I forgot, I purchased it for $ 6000, if that is relevant

IF I MAKE A CLAIM USING MY COMPANY CAR INSURANCE, DOES THAT AFFECT MY PERSONAL INSURANCE REPUTATION?
Dec 8th
Question by Mr. E:
If I make a claim using my company automobile insurance, does that affect my personal insurance reputation?
I recently got into a tiny fender bender using my company car. The other driver was not present, so I left a note. He called, and I followed through by filing a claim with the insurance company. I am worried, though, that my personal insurance reputation/rating is going to be affected because of this claim with my company car. Any information you can provide would b helpful.
Got an expert response. Expert Response:
Thanks for the note. Many insurance companies have different guidlines and underwriting criteria. This claim should have been on your commercial carrier (through work) and not your personal auto insurance policy. Commercial claims are usually not carried over to your personal insurance policy. You will have to check with your current carrier to see what their policy is.

INSURANCE CLAIM TAKING TOO MUCH TIME?
Dec 6th
Question by CaseNut:
Insurance claim taking too much time?
I was involved in an accident which was my fault, beyond doubt. No one was injured and the damage to the other automobile would be between $ 1000 and $ 2000. No damage to my car. My insurance company is Progressive, and they made me an on the web account once I filed a claim, with which I can check the status of the claim.
It’s been a month now, and the payment details have not been completed yet. I am not anticipating get any money since my automobile was not damaged, but shouldn’t they be completed with the paperwork already?

CAN YOU BE SUED PERSONALLY AT THE SAME TIME SOMEONE HAS AN AUTO INSURANCE CLAIM AGAINST YOU?
Nov 12th
Question by russ_0067:
Can you be sued personally at the same time someone has an auto insurance claim against you?
My wife was involved in an auto accident last October. The other celebration submitted a claim to our insurance company this February for personal injury. The insurance company has determined very tiny liability and have not been able to come to an agreement on the terms of settlement. We have just discovered the other celebration has filed a personal injury suit against my wife. Can this be done at the same time? Is the insurance company supposed to deal with this? If the other celebration gets paid by the insurance company, would my wife still be liable for damages? What if the insurance company and the other celebration never come to an agreement? Help?!

Can my auto insurance company place a claim on my record by simply calling to ask a question?
I was in my boyfriend’s truck and backed into our garage door. I called my auto ins. to ask if I needed to make a claim or if he did since it was his truck. They stated he should, and he did. I recently was getting ins. quotes and found out it is on my record, even though his insurance paid for the damages.
