Car insurance – some info on the web states if I have an accident my collission insurance should pay not only for?

repairs but also for the dimunition in value of the automobile (e.g., it’s no longer a automobile that is never been in an accident, for which a buyer might pay a bit more). My Calif ins agent says, on behalf of the major national insurer for which he is a captive agent, ‘no’. Who’s right?
