Question by :
What is the ideal automobile insurance company in Britain?
I am 17 and looking to be put on my fathers insurance. The automobile is a 1.4 Renault Clio and the cheapest quote is £1600. How do you get them to take the price down when talking to them on the phone? Also I have had a bike for a couple of years with my own insurance, will this make a difference?

Cheers!

Answer by Rikola
Get your insurance from a good company offering good coverage, then stick with them for the long term.,..

All insurers play ‘leap-frog’ with prices because their prices are determined by their loss experience.

If you have a good long-term track record with your insurance company they will not cancel you if you have a bad year.

Say if you let your friend drive your automobile and he get’s in an accident. Can you auto insurance company state that the insurance coverage did not count because your friend did not have seat belts on? Thx.

Answer by butwhatdoIno?
Oh yeah. And it also can deny if you are drinking, racing, showing off, doing stunts…etc. They do not want to pay out at all – that applies to all of them.

Answer by ME
it depends… the policy might specifically exclude coverage if it can be determined that no seat belt was worn. if it states it in the policy, then yea, they can deny coverage.

Answer by George D
Unless your policy covered other people driving your automobile (or the other persons insurance covered other automobiles they are driving), then they probably will not pay you anything anyway.

If your friend was not wearing his seatbelt, and bounced his head off the windshield or was injured, then they probably will not pay you even if you had coverage for them driving it.

Question by Sup!:
The Automobile insurance company gave me a low estimate on repairs?
Long story short. Not my fault. I can not take this up with my insurance company because I do not have one. We got his info. My automobile has 140K miles on it. It’s worth about 2K. It would not be worth it to fix it. I decided to get the estimate and put the cash to another car. I have not signed anything yet.

Insurance Company Quoted $ 1013.76
Auto Body Shop $ 1162.04
Ford Dealership $ 1284.90

271.14 difference. I asked to split the difference between the auto body shop and the Ford dealership. The Insurance compnay ofcourse stated no. What should I do? If I had gone to an auto body repair shop of my choice with 1013.76 in hand they would have called the insurance compnay and asked for them to kick down more money. So I think it’s fair that I get more cash. Do not even get me started on the medical. My health insurance is getting billed. Not the insurance company.
The guy backed into my automobile when it was parked. I was not driving it. It was parked to sell it. My BF and I were sitting in the automobile out of the rain writting out a new for sale sign. My bf drove around after the accident and the automobile vibrated like crazy. The insurance company did not even check the alignment or add it to the estimate. The estimates do not even include the alignment so there could be more damage.
The medical people are refusing to bill the insurance company responsible. They wanted me to pay up front and get rembursed later or have some other insurance cover it. I did not want to wait I had torn musle in my neck, out of alignment and my BF has the same. Any way I can get the Automobile insurance company billed?
They want me to sign the estimate papers but I do not plan on it. If I do I will not cash the check.

——————————————

Answer by David B
excuse me, you dont have one? youre driving uninsured, a violation of law in each say i know of? Take whatever the other company gives you and slink off quietly.

Answer by rollindem20z
i wouldnt go to ford, same thing happened to me, was not my fault, and their ins. company only paid what their estimater quoted… i ended up paying out of my pocket not much just over 50 dollars but hey thats a full tank of gas and lunch i could have had. they did not do good anyways!!

Answer by sleepydo
you superior just take what is offer to you instead of nickel and dime the insurance company. if insurance company find out you do not have your own insurance then they will not pay you anything because your not suppose to be on the road.

——————————————

Answer by Fred C
What, you are a bad driver and you think you can continue to hide it? Not a hope in heck. If you change insurers, you have to answer a question about any accidents, at fault or not, in the last 3 or 5 years. Lie, and it comes out when you make a claim, your claim will be denied.
Your present insurer might or might not ask you for a new disclosure, and they might or might not check public records on accidents. However, after that one accident, there is an excellent chance they will.
Don’t change companies, your rate MAY go up.
Change companies, it will either go up or you will have your insurance summarily cancelled/claim denied for failure to disclose a material fact.

Learn to drive, and do not try to game the system or the system might bite you back huge time.

Answer by Abay S
All claims get into a central Database called ISO. Do not lie.Remember in this time and age, anything you state or do, gets recorded somewhere and is available to any one at click of a mouse

Question by stinkyhotdogs:
Does anyone know of an auto insurance company that has a superior system for carrying proof of insurance?
auto insurance cards suck they always expire so swiftly and I can never remember to put the new ones in the glove box. Is there a superior system then printed paper insurance cards? I usually lose them or forget to put them in and then when I get pulled over I get a ticket for no proof of insurance, why cant there just be one card i can use that doesnt have an expiration date? like a health insurance card those dont have expiration dates.

——————————————

Answer by ME
insurance cards w/ out experation dates would be pointless. dont be so lazy and when the cards come in the mail put them in the glovebox right away. honestly, its not that hard.

Answer by j_bryon
I use Progressive and I can print a more massive card to keep in my glove compartment and I can print a smaller, wallet-sized card. They also send, in the mail, the same size cards as well. The cards they send in the mail are on a plasticized paper that doesn’t rip or wear as easily. If you hard on your cards you can always go to almost any printing place (Kinko’s, Staples, etc.) and have the card laminated until you feel it is stiff enough.

As for the expiration date? You will probably NEVER find an insurance provider that doesn’t print the expiration date on it. Most providers insure people for 6 months at a time. At that time they re-evaluate your driving record for any changes that could cause a change in your rates. I am also fairly confident that providers print the expiration date on the card to clearly show if you do or do not have coverage in the event that you need to show proof of insurance. If the date was not on the card someone would have to call the provider to get the proof that you still have coverage.

I hope this answers your question.

Good luck!:)

Answer by Heckler99
Hey pal, take some responsibility for your own actions for a change. Cannot remember to put an insurance card in your own car……you deserve those tickets.

Question by ERIC R:
What is the ideal company for cheap automobile insurance?
I am doing my lessons, I am a 19 year old female and a mom of 1. I have just purchased a renault clio 1.4 and need to get the cheapest possible insurance. To begin i need insurance so that i can drive with someone in the automobile on my provisional but i also need quotes on how much it will cost me when i have past my test.

——————————————

Answer by Fred Smith
There is no such thing.

Answer by PDE
It is not as simple as saying try company X as a company that is cheap for one person might not be cheap for someone else as the quote they give depends on your own personal circumstances and driving history.

There is unfortunately no swift way for young inexperienced drivers to get cheap automobile insurance. Insurers are getting hammered with claims from this age group, and lots of UK insurers have taken the decision to stop insuring younger drivers altogether. Those who still do insure them are forced to charge high prices to cover the cost of the claims they make.

There is only one way to get cheaper automobile insurance, and that is to pay the going rate for a few years, and try to build up some claim free driving experience. You will soon find, once you get some no claims discount, and some experience, that the cost will begin to come down. In the meantime, I would try one of the price comparison web sites, as whilst they will all be expensive, it will help to identify the least expensive.

Sorry, but there simply is no simple answer. If there was, we would all be doing it.
