Answer by butwhatdoIno?
Oh yeah. And it also can deny if you are drinking, racing, showing off, doing stunts…etc. They do not want to pay out at all – that applies to all of them.

Answer by ME
it depends… the policy might specifically exclude coverage if it can be determined that no seat belt was worn. if it states it in the policy, then yea, they can deny coverage.

Answer by George D
Unless your policy covered other people driving your automobile (or the other persons insurance covered other automobiles they are driving), then they probably will not pay you anything anyway.

If your friend was not wearing his seatbelt, and bounced his head off the windshield or was injured, then they probably will not pay you even if you had coverage for them driving it.

I’d like to know what the average monthly payment is for reasonable automobile insurance, to see if the quotes I am getting are reasonable. This is for a UK driver with more than 15yrs driving experience.

Also, what would be a reasonable amount if you added a newly qualified driver as a secondary driver to that.

The automobile is a 2006 Ford Galaxy. I know it all depends with the other extras etc, but I just want to get a rough idea what is the average monthly insurance that would be reasonable to expect.

Question by tom:
How to get a cheap automobile insurance for young driver?
I have a son who is a teenager. I have a automobile who I was sharing it with my son but now he purchased his own car. He ask me to get a caheper insurance that he can affored but I’ve been looking but all of them seem to be above what he is willing to pay, I could help him pay but even it’s not enough. It there any insurace that cover for cheap or what should I do?

——————————————

Answer by Queenie
A teenage boy is one of the most costly people to insure on a car. That is facts. The only thing you can do is shop around, but it will be costly wherever you go. That is part of the responsibility of having a car.

Answer by ken k
if he is under 18 he has to go on yours/make the arrangements

Answer by Otto
“Above what he is willing to pay”? He might not like it, but if he wants to drive, he needs to pay what they stipulate. Teenage boys are the highest risk category and as such, rates are the highest. He might not like it but those are the facts. Shop around for rates. The cheapest is not necessarily the ideal deal. You want coverage that will stand up if there is a problem.

——————————————

Question by Mos Def:
What does it mean to add a driver to your automobile insurance policy?
Will it count as liability insurance for that driver? My boyfriend and I will be sharing a automobile when we move in together and I want him to be on my policy under the same vehicle, if it’s possible at all.

——————————————

Answer by Iffy
Yes you can do that. There will be an increase in premiums

Answer by StephenWeinstein
It means to have the insurance company enter the driver’s name and license number into their personal and charge you extra money. It will be liability insurance for that driver when driving your automobile (but not when driving that driver’s own car, unless you also add that automobile to your policy).

The premium (what you pay) will increase if you stay single when you add him. However, because premiums are lower for married persons than for unmarried persons, if you add him and marry him, then the premium will not increase as much, and might decrease.

Answer by mbrcatz
Yes, in order for your automobile to be covered, while he is driving it, you have to list him as a named driver on your policy. Same thing – for you to be covered driving his car, he has to list you as a driver on his policy.

BUT. An additional driver does NOT have the same, wide liability coverages as a NAMED insured on the policy.

It might or might not “count” as liability insurance for him, depending on exactly what you are trying to accomplish. It WILL make him insured, while driving any automobile listed on your policy.

——————————————

I am trying for Insurance in different companies like GEICO,STATE Farm etc.Everywhere I get quotes like 2000$ For 6 month premium for a decent coverage.I am looking for something around 1000 – 1200 $ for 6 months.I would anticipate a maximum liability coverage ,a limited uninsured coverage and Collision Coverage with a Deductible of 1000 $ .

Any Recommendations please ?

——————————————

Answer by Jessica S
I do not know what say you are in but, first off, certain areas of the country have much higher insurance rates than others. This alone could be part of the problem. If you are getting similar quotes from insurance companies, that is probably in the area of what you can anticipate to pay anywhere. Being a new driver will greatly increase your premiums as well.

I do not know how credit reporting works with other countries, but if you do not have established or good credit, this can also affect your premium as well.

The automobile itself will also make a difference in the premium if you are carrying comprehensive and collision coverage. Even with $ 1000 deductibles, some automobiles are just very costly to insure. Perhaps think about a different car and see if that puts you more in your insurance price range.

The amount of liability you are carrying is also obviously going to affect your premium. I am not sure what your definition of maximum or minimum is so it’s kind of hard to elaborate on this. Ideally, though, you would want your uninured/underinsured coverage to match your liability limits. That is for your protection in case you are severly hurt by an uninsured/underinsured driver.

Answer by Jen
There is a site where you can compare a bunch of different insurance companies to find out which one will give you the ideal price. You can try a comparison site like Progessive through this page, too. Most of them will give you quotes on the web so you do not even have to speak to anyone if you do not want to. I would advocate staying away from Say Farm; from what I hear, they are always pretty expensive.

I have had my license for 3 years but Im 19 and of course my rates are through the roof. Ive never had any accidents or even got pulled over. That gives me a discount. I want to take a driving course but Im unsure which one I should take. I see there are classes on the web so should I take those or a driving class that I actually get in the automobile and go driving with an instructor. Idk any info on this would help a lot. 10 pts for most helpful answer
I have an 02 dodge neon
also my current rate is 229 it is full coverage

——————————————

Answer by Taylor
not a good investment. save ten dollars a month and spend 400 for a class, or just suck up ten dollars????just purchase a automobile older than a 2001, they are cheap.
mines 250$ a month just liability. mines a newer automobile though

Answer by Steve D
Call your insurance company – ask how much you can save by taking the class and which classes they authorize. Just because something is offered as a safe drivers class does not mean your insurance company thinks about it sufficient for you to receive the discount.

Answer by deejayspop
Only if you drive the insured car, your dads car, you can’t purchase a automobile and use his insurance, that is illegal, but as long as you drive your dads car, yes it is legal
