HOW SHOULD I CATEGORIZE UNEXPECTED EXPENSES FOR BUDGET TRACKING?

Question by Michael S:
How Should I Categorize Unexpected Expenses For Budget Tracking?
I use Quicken On the web to manage my family budget and expenses. If the purpose of a budget is to track routine and expected recurring transactions, how should I account for the occasional massive unexpected expense? For example, I have a massive deductible to pay for a current auto accident, but should I categorize that as an insurance, auto, miscellaneous, transfer out, or another category? Is there a superior way to plan for these things? One thought I had, was to put $ 50 a month or so into an “unexpected expense” savings account, and to add that $ 50 to the budget. When an unexpected expense comes up, I’d just transfer the cost into this savings account as a negative transfer. Would that work?

Question by Misty:
How important is it to have Medical Expenses added to your automobile insurance policy?
I was told to reduce my monthly automobile insurance payments a tiny I could remove that. I was told that your medical insurance would kick in to pay for any injuries, or if someone was with you theirs would kick in. They stated that automobile insurance would be a secondary to your medical insurance. Has anyone ever got good use out of having this on their insurance policy??

CAN THE AUTO INSURANCE COMPANY PAY ME DIRECTLY FOR MY MEDICAL EXPENSES OR DO THEY HAVE TO PAY THE DOCTOR?
Jul 4th
Question by Lorraine:
Can the auto insurance company pay me directly for my medical expenses or do they have to pay the doctor?
I was in an auto accident and I have medical insurance. My medical insurance covered my medical expenses; however, I wanted to know if the auto insurance is still liable for those expenses? It seems as if my having medical insurance should benefit me and not the liable party’s auto insurance company. If I did not have medical insurance the auto insurance company would still have to pay for those expenses. So shouldn’t they still have to pay for those expenses and I get what ever is left that my medical insurance company did not pay? Are there any laws statures that back this up in Georgia? I am trying to settle this claim without getting an attorney and I need all the help I can get. Any advice would be helpful. I am in the process of writing a demand letter. Thanks for all the help.
