Question by Manny:
How much approximately does auto insurance go up after getting a speeding ticket?
What would you do . . .
a) Pay the fine and take the Defensive driving course – It doesn’t go on your driving record
b) Go to court and gamble – if the officer shows up you pay and it goes on your record, your auto insurance goes up- if the officer doesn’t show up you record remains clean, you do not pay – case dismissed

——————————————

Answer by Seven53
I get paid 4 hours overtime to show up at court, even if I am there for ten minutes.. If I do not show, I get suspended for a day. What do you think I do?

Answer by CGIV76
To get the correct answer, contact your insurance company. Any other answer would be pure speculation.

Answer by Dog Lover
You should take driving school and avoid the points.

If you “gamble” and go to court, because 98 % of the time the officer will be there, you will get full fine, full points, court costs AND probably court ordered driving school.

As far as the insurance, it depends on your company and their policies on the issue. I have heard people tell me that their insurance did not increase for one ticket… and I have had people tell me their insurance company cancelled them for one ticket!

Its private business. They are not requried to keep you. They want to minimize their risk while maximizing profits.

——————————————

Question by pink_playa05:
Getting A Quote For Auto Insurance.?
I am looking around for auto insurance and they ask if you have accidents and/or violations. I have had 3 accidents (only 1 was my fault) and 1 violation in the past 3 years, but they are not on my MVR, would I still have to put it down?

——————————————

Answer by Baby Girl Due Might 2009!
Even if they arent on your MVR if an insurance company has paid anything out on them they will still count & the insurance company can probably see them in their system. But if you had a wreck that no insurance company knew about & no police showed up, then no you wouldnt have to tell them & they wont show up.

Answer by calipink22
Withholding information is a form of insurance fraud and it’s a morale hazard. Insurance companies do not like this….

There should be a drop down for NAF accident (Not at fault accident). Use that selection for the accidents that were not your fault. As for your violation, if it’s not showing on your MVR because you finished the defensive driving course then do not list the citation. If you did not complete the driving course then you do need to list the violation, unless it’s a non-moving violation (i.e. parking ticket, etc.)

Don’t try to defraud an insurance company to get a cheaper rate. You will find yourself without insurance when you need it most

Answer by Happiness Lies Within Us
Yes you should never fail to disclose anything as it might come back to bite you should they be forced to pay out.
For a quote, these are good as they will search a bunch of carriers who will be competing one another for price

Question by darthvader747:
What are the risks of getting cheaper auto insurance using friends/work address?
Getting a automobile insured in Hoboken is very costly ($ 750 for 6 months). Some of my friends use their friends address (Say Edison address) and get much cheaper quotes. What are the risks in doing this? My friend also had a claim with no problems (but it was a minor claim).

Please advise?

——————————————

Answer by Toodeemo
Insurance fraud arrest.

Answer by oklatom
Your rates are set by where you live and park your automobile at night. If you use an address you do not live at, just to get cheaper rates, you are defrauding the insurance company. They might never find out, assuming you never have a claim. But if you do have a claim, they will investigate, find out you do not live where you claimed to live, and refuse to pay out on the claim. If they then cancel your insurance (typical), you will have your license to drive revoked by the state. Is it worth taking the chance? You decide.

Answer by CwboyBill
If you are involved in a crash and cause $ 100,000+ in property and medical costs and your insurance company finds out you falsified your application it might be grounds for DENIAL. Then the judge will force you to liquidate all of your assets and attach your wages for the next 30 years.
Then you will realize that those premiums were really nothing compared to a ruined life.

——————————————

Question by stimbo m:
What is a good website for getting non-owners sr22 insurance?
The problem is, I work from 9 am to 9pm M-Sat and do not have the time to call someone about insurance quotes. I went on the web and searched for non-owner sr22 and the first thing any site wants to know other than your name is what kind of automobile you drive. My automobile doesn’t work. To save money I parked it while I saved up and two children smashed it up. They do not have any money to fix it so I am out of luck there. I lost my license 3 years ago in a different incident and need to get it back so I can find something to rent or borrow or something to get a superior paying job.

——————————————

Answer by Sue
Try Progressive.com or 1800Progressive. They are there 24 hrs. Also, just so you are aware, you can get the nonowners policy ONLY if there is NO automobile in your household & NO automobile available for your regular use. If you purchase the policy & then have a automobile available for your regular use (borrowing it for a while), the policy will NOT pay. Also, renting a automobile will be VERY costly since there is no comprehensive & collision on a nonowner policy, it is liability only, there would be NO coverages for damage to the automobile (you would need to purchase the LDW from the rental automobile co) – then it is debatable whether the liability will be valid (if you were renting long-term) because it could be considered available for your regular use.
The ideal thing to do is to purchase an old automobile you can get liability only on – get a regular auto policy & add the SR22 to that policy. It is usually cheaper than a nonowner policy too.

Question by KK88 + Grilled Cheese Sandwich:
Does a PBJ count against your insurance when getting a quote ?
I just got a “ballpark estimate” on the web for automobile insurance and they wanted $ 450 a month for Basic coverage. Im only 20 so figured it would be high but that price is just insane. Anyway I counted my pbj (speeding) as a violation and only got in one fender bender (my fault but not a lot of damage) I dont have any points on my license, so do you think that price is close to right or do you only count stuff if it goes against your license?

——————————————

Answer by calipink22
An insurance premium will include any citations against your license as well as any accidents where a claim was filed and money was paid out. On the web quotes are bogus because they just go off the information you type into the personal system. They do not verify the information until after you have bought the policy and made your first down payment. You should go into a local insurance bureau and sit down with an actual agent. Let them run the reports and give you an exact quote. Take in your DMV report(if you have one) any prior insurance information and your registration for the vehicle. It’s always ideal to get the most sufficient quote possible. Personal agents are more costly but atleast you know what you are getting yourself into before you sign the policy

Answer by Shawn T
Hey.. I am always here to answer your concern. I searched one of the ideal answer to ur concern. Search at – below link . I am sure you will be happy after you visit the link.

Answer by forestwizard1
You driving history can have an impact on how much you are paying for auto insurance, but there are other factors to consider.

First of all, you said you are 20. Most insurance companies will not offer breaks or discounts until you reach 21, or in some cases, 24 or 25. One thing I would think about doing, if possible, is to get on your parents’ insurance. Have them add your car to their policy as a secondary vehicle, and list you as the primary driver. Group rates are usually cheaper than single policies.

Second, what kind of car are you driving? Some automobiles will cost more to insure, either because they have a lower accident safety rating (more likely to cause severe injuries to drivers and passengers if involved in an accident), or if they have a history of being unreliable mechanically. Another reason why some automobiles would cost more to insure is because they might have features or capabilities that would make drivers and passengers more prone to have an accident in. A good example is a lot of sports cars.

Third, what kind of coverage are you getting? Unless this is a brand new vehicle, you are leasing (making payments) on the vehicle, new or used, or if your say requires it, you do not need to buy full coverage insurance. Most says have set minimum standards as to what you should have on your policy, usually liability-only insurance (means you are at-fault in an accident). If an insurance company is licensed to sell insurance in your state, they should have all the information as to what the say would grant for minimum coverage. Some companies, like Direct or Safe Auto, specialize in minimum coverage policies, which are usually a lot cheaper than full coverage.

In regard to the coverage, did you ask for any other “special services” through the company? These could include road-side service, free tow (which might be included in road-side), and other fringe benefits. only two groups of people really benefit from road-side service: Those who travel a lot (more than 90% of their job involves travel), and those who travel long distances to get to one location (more than 50 miles), like to work or home, on a daily basis.

Other things that might help lower your rate is if you are a member of certain organizations or clubs, like AAA. Also, if your car has certain safety features (airbags, ABS system), you might get a discount. People with certain careers are considered to be more high-risk than others, so you career might cause your premium to be high as well.

——————————————

Question by rickpetralia:
How does getting a new say license affect your automobile insurance?
I have a TN driver license. I have a couple of violations on it. I just moved to SC, and I am going to get a SC driver license. I am going to be buying automobile insurance soon. When they look up my record off of my new SC driver license, will the violation/accident from my TN driver license show?

——————————————

Answer by David
Yup–if not immediately, they will show up eventually; both says trade driver’s info. In fact, since your SC license will be new, the insurer might ask for your TN number, too, and they will definitely show up there; so ideal be up front about the tickets Insurance companies do not like it when you leave out important info.

Answer by ravenjudge
yes.

Answer by sensible_man
Yes. Unlike the DMV records, insurance companies keep a complete record of all your past offenses, not drop them after a certain amount of time. You will be asked about your TN violations when getting SC insurance, and the records will likely be checked.

Answer by Scott W
Yes most do they just dont tell you about it.

Answer by Cindy M
Yes, to get a quote they do what is call a soft hit. This means it doesn’t show on your credit report. Your credit history will affect your insurance rates, so good credit means superior rates.

Answer by .
I do not see any reason they will run your credit. Assume you get a bad credit score and they do not “sell” insurance ? I do not think so. If you are good driver (no ticket or accident) you are making money for them. You always have to pay the premium upfront. They have nothing to do with your credit score.

Question by MysticDMBherb:
How do I go about getting automobile insurance?
I’m 19, my automobile insurance now is under my parents name and they pay for it. I want to by a Mustang and I want to pay for the insurance myself. So do I go see an agent? Or do it online? I tried to get a quote on the web and I am not sure how to answer certain questions…..I DID get in an accident 3 years ago but my insurance company never caught me on it, so will they find out if I try to get my own insurance now? Should I use a different company to not get caught and have to pay higher rates?
….I can’t stay on my parents, I already have one of my automobiles on theirs, and they can’t have anymore automobiles because the insurance company will know they are not all my parent’s

——————————————

Answer by car253
This is my ideal advice. Stay with your parents insurance and just ask that your automobile be put on a separate bill. Stay with the same company company that you are with now. You can still shop around for a superior rate but I doubt you will find one. You get lots of discounts off of your parents policies even if they bill you separately.

And, if your not a listed driver on the auto insurance policy now you should call and ask to be added as a driver. And, get a separate bill for just your car.

Answer by StephenWeinstein
Before you waste a lot of time, get a quote on the web using a fake name and address, but your real ZIP code and your real age, and using whatever answer you want for the other questions. You will probably find that the prices for everyone who is 19 where you live are more than you can afford, and that you can’t get your own insurance, because it is too expensive.

If you do see prices that you can afford, then you can do it on the web or use an agent, whichever you prefer.

If you decide to use an agent, ask the agent if you can do it online. If the agent states you can’t do it on the web and that you need to use an agent, that means the agent is a liar and you should use a different agent. If you decide to use an agent, use one who is honest enough to tell you the truth, which is that you do have the option to do it on the web if you want.

Answer by mbrcatz
Is the automobile you drive titled to you, or titled to a parent? The name on the insurance policy must match the name on the tags and title.

Most of those on the web quote places are trying to harvest your personal information, to sell as leads..

And it’s silly to think that your insurance did not “catch” the accident – your parents most likely have accident forgiveness on their policy – which you WON’T get, with a new policy in YOUR name. Trust me. If you lie, you will be caught. They verify everything. If you want that rate to be the same when the policy is issued, as when you make your decision to purchase it, do not lie on the application.

Go sit down and speak with a local agent, even if you do not purchase insurance from them. They can take the time to explain all the coverages, so at least you know what you are buying. You will not get that from “online”. And some companies will not sell insurance directly – you HAVE to use an agent.

——————————————

Question by Lizzy:
How do I stop getting stressed dealing with automobile insurance after wreck?
I am having to phone AllState again and again after I was in a automobile wreck, as they stated they would pay for the automobile damage but they keep trying to avoid paying. I am getting so stressed by the phone calls – and I was hurt so the whole thing is a real pain in the neck (feeble attempt at joke…). How can I reduce the stress (don’t state massage or yoga please!!!!!). Should I get an attorney? Or is there some way to be firm but polite on the phone while I ask for what is rightfully due (from what I have heard about automobile insurance after a wreck). Any clues how to deal with the evil insurance adjuster on the end of the phone? This is really upsetting me, and it was bad enough being in the wreck.

——————————————

Answer by isitdejavu4u2
I think some insurance companies make this their company policy. Not all are like this. I am not really sure what you can do but keep climbing up the ladder in the company by writing letters. sorry I cannot offer much, I wish you luck and hope your injury is better.

Answer by allen f
that is how insurance companies get people to sign off for peanuts, especially the one you have. I have been to court with them a few times. To them it’s just business, to me they are just scum. So please, please, please get a lawyer immediately. You cannot do this by yourself. There are plenty of lawyers that will take cases on a contingency basis.

Answer by la428282
Insurance adjusters are “scum”- ha- thats a generalization if ive ever seen one. I do everything I can daily to keep my customers the happiest they can be in the unfortunate event that is a automobile accident. Im not saying there arent rude adjuster but- have you listened to why they are dragging this out?

There are several issues that are out of adjusters control that could be dragging this out- for example- is there a coverage issue? (Alot of the time the other celebrations insurance might have been cancelled prior to the accident or an unlisted driver might have been driving which can slow things down.)

I recommend you calmly and maturely call the adjuster.. nice ask what the hold up is and if its legitimate comprehend that you will just have to be patient (worse come to worse- go through your own collision if your not happy w/ the other carrier)

As far as a lawyer.. they slow the process down IF ANYTHING. Sure- go run and get a lawyer if you want to give away 1/3 of your money. But a laywer DOES NOT scare an insurance company whatsoever and will extend this thing for months longer.

——————————————
