Question by AskRayOkay:
Court gave me a point for jaywalking now my auto insurance is high, can they do that?
I got a ticket from the police 2 years ago when I was 15 and a half. I am now 18 and I recently got my license, but when I applied for auto insurance it was 150 dollars more than usual because of the point court gave me for jaywalking 2 years ago. Did they make a mistake or can they really do that? It had nothing to do with driving! Now, I cannot drive because I cannot afford my insurance and they told me it’ll take 3 years until it’s absolutely off my record. I am screwed! Anybody have any recommendations on who I should complain to or if they can really do that! It’ll help a lot! thanks.

Answer by Bill P
You are right. It had nothing to do with driving. Find another insurance company

Answer by JetDoc
Obviously they CAN do it, because they did do it!

but when i put ive had my licensce for a year the quote drops a massive amount even with no years no claims, is there anyway the insurance co can find out if i state ive had my licensce a year because i can do it all online

——————————————

Answer by cal_katman
Yes they can. The insurance company will look up your driving record with the DMV and if you state 1 year and in turns out to be less, that can be considered fraud. And that is a felony. Just be truthful about it. And if it costs you more, then pay it.

Answer by budhart1885c
i would recommend being honest on the application for your insurance it would be much cheaper for you to consult mother and father and have them put you on a rider on their insurance policy and then you pay them the difference it would require some dedication on your part and they might put restrictions on when you can drive but in the long run it will be cheaper and provide you with some insight as to the responsibilities for automobile ownership

Question by YoGirlReportsToMe:
why are these insurance premiums so high?
so when i use to drive legally with insurance, i payed about 600 down and like 180 a month.

but now when im looking for new insurance, i see monthly premiums for $ 900!! if automobile is financed, or min coverage of $ 400 for an owned car?
i dont understand… can automobile insurance really be this costly or is there something going on here?
i got the quotes from on the web by the way…

——————————————

Answer by Spirit
yes they can be that high it all depends on your age and type of car and driving record age 16-25 is always high

Answer by Bryce
I was with Geico for a year or so, believing them the cheapest (nice ads!), but went to Progressive and have found them more than reasonable.

Premiums are based on lots of factors, but the highest-priced ones are your age, driving record, and where you live. If you are older, with a clean record, and live in a statistically “safe” area, your rates will be lower.

Answer by ken k
STOP GOING ONLINE they are all a rip off/get local company/in your exact location/thats the only way

Question by MuNky:
Car insurance price after a year still high. Any suggestions?
Hiya,

So basically I have been driving for a year as a named driver on my fathers policy. In that time I have not had one accident or claim, no speeding tickets and never had to contact my insurance. Now im looking to go on my own policy and the cheapest prices that Im receiving is still over £1900! I thought it would at least of dropped below £1500 by now….

Anyone have any recommendations or companies to try. Ive tried all the compare websites, and a lot of independent ones such as direct line etc and they all suck just as much as each other.. quoting me stupid figures like £15000 :S

Help!

——————————————

Answer by george 2
i am guessing that your a male under the age of 25 and not married. if that is the case then your going to be stuck paying high automobile insurance bills until one of the two things above occur. insurance companies have determined that a male under 25 who is not married has the biggest risk of getting into an accident or other liabilities issues that are going to cost the insurance company huge bucks and that is why each male in that situation pays a lot for automobile insurance!!!

Answer by Martin Livingston
i am 17 and my insurance for just me is £2500, but after 2 years it goes down to £1400

Answer by Charlie T
Call the local agents in your area and get quotes.

Question by Trey:
Is a 2006 Honda Accord Coupe V6 Auto or 2006 Ford Mustang GT Auto for my first high school automobile choices?
im a guy and im getting my first high school automobile in a couple weeks. im 15 and i want either an 06 Honda Accord coupe V6 EX-L white or a 06 Ford mustang GT Auto in marron dark red. i dont know which one to get there both in my parents price range which is $ 15000. and ive found both of them on the web in the pice rance and those colors. which one should i get? parents paying for gas, insurance, and matienence. please give me your view and could somebody do a key fob function video on these automobiles so i can hear what it sounds like when you lock the door and it honks the horn. thanks!
I live in south carolina on the coast and its always hott. so and we never get snow it barely gets to 40 degrees at our coldest.

——————————————

Answer by lightbulbsmile
a honda or a ford??? are you really asking this question?? honda all the way. fords are crap. there is a reason the american auto industry is failing…the automobiles stink.

Answer by Amber
Fords aren’t known for reliability anymore. I would not purchase it unless you have a LOT of money to pay for repairs.

The Honda’s much more reliable, superior on gas and a safer automobile altogether.

I did not as huge a paycheck I thought I would this one, and I might have to wait until the 15th for my next paycheck to pay my auto insurance…I just do not want to have to go to a high risk insurance place

Answer by artman59
say- about one uninsured accident.

Answer by smgray99
Depends on the say insurance rules. In some says you are asked if there was ever a break in your coverage – if yes then you end up paying a lot more even if you never had an accident. Contact the insurance company – see if they will accept partial payment to carry you until the 15th.

Answer by jmanvl
My son had a wreck first day he purchased his car,he was getting insurance that day,the old man was at fault, not my son, they took my son’s driver’s license away for months,he paid all damage to the old man, paid $ 150 for 1st offense to get the license back,I would recommend asking if u can make a low down payment till your check comes in coz it can really cost ya if something like this happens!

Answer by Mushu
It’s just a quote. Once you sign on the dotted line, it could actually be a different number.

Maybe Farmers did not have all your info. But between the two, Farmers is the superior choice. They are a full service insurance company with a good reputation.

Answer by oklatom
If you are looking for the ideal bargain in rates suited to you and your needs, find and speak to a local independent agent. He will look at his data base to find what is ideal for you.

The other side benefit is you actually have a person to speak to and not just a toll free number and web page.

Answer by David W.
Amica consistently gets very high marks for service–one of the best—but I have found them a tiny high. If the Amica quote holds up, grab it.

Question by Mr Leo Koenig:
why are my automobile insurance quotes so high for male 17 (UK)?
i have looked on a couple of comparison websites (compare the market, go compare, confused) and have found that the cheapest for provisional licence is £900 from collingwood, but then when i change to full licence the cheapest is £3000 from ecar.

none of my friends have to pay this much for a full licence and some of them even hae superior automobiles than me.

i am trying to insure a clio campus 2002 1.2

——————————————

Answer by Entidtil
The premium is calculated on many things, including where you live as well as what you drive. einsurance websites are notoriously inaccurate. For a more reliable quote see an agent in a local office.
