Question by sb24:
is there a special type of auto insurance for college students whom only drive while at home on vacation?
I need auto insurance for when im home and i do not want to pay for the whole year because i only drive during the summer when i am at home the rest of the year im away at school. thanks in advance.

——————————————

Answer by Great Scott
Sorry, no one offers a policy like that.

Answer by Ted
Just let your insurance company know, they remove you as a driver and then add you on when you are home. You get a lower rate for this instead of paying for the entire year. I believe all insurance companies do this now. I know Cooperators does.

Answer by mauisunset
I concur with the other person regarding some insurance companies can stop and begin your insurance on demand.

I think I did this back when I was in college (that was a long time ago!). Basically I had to call up the insurance company and tell them when I needed coverage and when I needed to stop it again.

Call your agent. Just bear in mind if you go home for Christmas, you will not have insurance when you are home unless you “turn it back on”.

Playing devil’s advocate, turning on and off an insurance policy might do wacky things with discounts on insurance that is based on being a “loyal customer” for “X” number of years. My auto insurance is gets a 5% discount for being with the company for continuously for years. You will need to ask if the start/stop thing will impact that.

Question by gregwhatshisname:
Why would my credit score have any bearing on my annual premiums for automobile or home insurance?
Recently, I had a homeowners policy with on the web insurer ESURANCE. I was under the impression that my homeowners policy would automatically renew. No. You have to call ESURANCE and tell them you want to renew or they cancel you. After I was cancelled I called up to reopen my old account. No can do. So we opened a new account. My annual premium went from $ 468 to over $ 1400! I have never filed any claims or changed anything at my house. However, like many Americans, I have been laid off and bill payments have piled up. It’s fair to state my credit score has dropped. But a 300% markup? I called other insurers; Allstate, Nationwide, Say Farm; they were all close to $ 1000 annually! How can insurance companies get away with this? What do they think, if I am slow at paying my bills my home might burn down?

——————————————

Answer by John C
Part of it is the credit, but a very small part of the change I would guess. Many insurance companies jack up rates each year in excess of 20%, especially on accounts that are in escrow. My homeowners insurance went up substantially because they claim over last year it would cost that much more to rebuild my home because of increased costs in materials, So my $ 47,000 house, which was insured for rebuild at $ 165,000 was increased to $ 240,000 in insurance. A 5 minute phone call got it dropped back down. Good luck.

Answer by ☼AstrologerJuliAnne☼
Yes, your premium is tied to your credit score now. Perhaps their logic is that you might be so far in debt that you resort to burning down your home to collect the insurance.. LOL

Answer by NJ
All rates have gone up, The storms on the coast, floods in the Midwest and the fires in CA can cause rates nation wide to rise, AND they have.
Credit does matter as well, a lower score will get you a higher premium
Farmers is the worst.
So a combo of all together has caused your increase.

Go with a company that has an REAL AGENT, esurance might sound good but there is nobody with you interest.

——————————————

Answer by powerplayer
I’m not sure but my father states Allstate automobile insurance is good.

Answer by Celeste E
Nationwide.com

Answer by Bob
The huge three companies are St. Farm, Allstate, and Farmers. If you do not feel you need an agent try calling Geico and you might save some money. An excellent company based in Ohio is Ohio Casualty. All will give a discount for insuring both your home and autos. To compare rates try www.directoryinsurance.com. Remember that independent agents such as those used by Ohio Casualty have contracts with numerous companies and they can give you options. Companies such as St. Farm, Allstate, and Farmers have agents that write business soley for the company they work for. Keep in mind that agents represent the company they write business for not the client.

Answer by gbofo4x4
Well it was the automobile that was broken into, so your auto insurance should cover it if you have full coverage. Unless your automobile was in your garage, then I do not know.

I need to make some money, but not a lot and I need flexible hours. It seems like it would be easy, but there must be a catch. Is it too boring to bear or hard or anything? I do not need a whole lot of money, just enough to have some spending money and be able to pay about 100$ a month for cell and automobile insurance. Thanks for any advice!!

Answer by Zal
Hi!

I lost my job few years ago and after that I just could not find a new one. Nobody was hiring. I am so glad that my friend told me about this…
I work from home for few years now. The company is legit and has been on the market since 1999. They pay me each time – no issues. I can show you my paypal account, so you can make sure! You can begin for free and work whenever you have time.

But, if you decide to work from home (online), you need somebody to show you what do you have to do, otherwise u will do too many unnecessary things. I started on my own, and I was not making any progress for quite a while.

Please take a look at video on my web site. You will get the idea what is it all about. I would like you to watch it because you can see payment proof in it, so you will know that I am not lying or anything. Video : http://tinyurl.com/workfromhomelegit

If you decide to join use that link, so I will be your sponsor and I will be able to help you get started and along the way.
For more info write to my e-mail: preargin@gmail.com

Answer by Tom
they are all scams and spams, superior to stay away from all this BS.

Question by TONI101:
Are there any ‘work at home’ jobs that one can do without paying to obtain them?
I have to stay at home. The only income I have goes for living expenses. I even had to give up my automobile because auto insurance was not in the budget.
I can use the personal for work.
I have years of experience in the field of fashion and hat design. I can do these these things at home, but I have not been able to market my designs. Free classified ad on the web have been tried. Ebay also. All I receive from them is people trying to sell me their product or ideas.
Anybody have some new ideas for me to try that are FREE?

——————————————

Answer by desdichado
well Sis….u can begin off with your own website and market them without spending anything. ……

you might also begin a fashion blog and ask ur friends to join the blog and promote it to their friends. If u are able to get a good number of visitors, well u will be able to earn from Google Ads and many other ads……u just need to find out how u can promote ur blog and website.

If u have any contacts in the fashion field, then u might try pushing some designs into the industry. U might also speak to small non-designer textile/dress shops to have ur designs hung up in theirs shops and in case it sells, u might tell them that u wil give a 20% share on the price too.

There are many other ideas Sis, u just need to think out of the box. In case u need further help, consult experts or if u might want, email me. I can give my ideas. All the ideal and God bless you and ur future business.

Note : World wide web is a large treasure house, u just need to know the proper “Key”words to search.

Answer by Joe R
Yes, there are many. Go to http://www.whydowork.com/jobs.php, it is a work at home job search engine. All the jobs listed do not require any upfront fees.

Answer by jjt
no cause most do not comprehend the difference between job and home business.

——————————————

Question by voltron:
Where can i buy insurance for my DSLR camera? I do not own a home…?
I live in Los Angeles. Everything i find on the web mentions to go through homeowners insurance, which i do not have (and does not protect outside of the home as far as i know). My automobile insurance carrier also offers nothing. I am looking for protection against damage and theft.

It is not professional equipment and is not used commercially.

——————————————

Answer by ►BobB◄
talk to your insurance agent about “renters insurance”.

Answer by Master Road
I have my own equipment insured with Hill &Usher. You can find them at http://www.packagechoice.com/index.jsp#htwms

BTW… Renters insurance generally excludes photography equipment and it is doubtful that you would then be covered if you are away from home and something happens. I had checked this issue extensively when my own equipment reached the $ 20,000 mark in value.

Answer by Larry
homeinsurance.awardspace.us – try this one. Got my home insurance from them. As I know they provide such a service.

Question by nick:
Is a home address necessary to acquire auto insurance?
I’m 21 and ready to move out of my parents house. I am single and have no one to support but myself. I want the freedom of the open road as well as a way of cheaper living. I have decided to purchase a massive van and outfit it with all the luxuries of a motor-home. My only concern is, how will I get auto insurance w/o a permanent address? Will I have to use my parents or a friends address?
Also what about my license?

——————————————

Answer by dadnbob
They need a place to send the bill.

Answer by ken k
for a while use parents address/after about a year switch to po box/gonna be tough on license as they want home address

Answer by Scott H
Insurance pricing is based on where you live and where the automobile is garaged, so yes.

——————————————

Question by nuwa k:
What is the procedure regarding auto insurance when getting the automobile from dealership to home?
First time automobile buyer, going with a friend to purchase the automobile from a dealership, how to get the automobile back to home ? I think I obviously need an auto insurance, but without knowing the automobile registration details how to get the auto insurance before purchasing?
Hope my question is clear enough!

——————————————

Answer by squishy
Many dealerships will recommend companies or grant you to phone them from the store. Or in some cases, grant you to shop around a couple of days and then bring the proof back in, though you might have to leave the automobile there while you do this. By law, most cannot grant you to leave without insurance; I would check with the dealership and see what their policy is regarding the issue. Some have insurance available there, but it is often more pricey than if you shop around yourself.

Answer by fire4511
You need to have insurance before you take the automobile off the lot. You have an idea of the kind of automobile that you are looking for, so you can shop around for insurance quotes prior to going automobile shopping. If you had insurance on a vehicle, you could just contact the agent and inform then that you needed to add the new vehicle, but with no current coverage, you need to purchase the policy before you take the car.

Once you know the automobile information, you can call the agent that had the ideal deal, and give them the exact information about the automobile you are purchasing. You can either give them a credit card number, or take them a check, and they will issue you a “binder” that covers you until the actual policy is issued.

Answer by Entidtil
call an insurance company BEFORE you purchase the automobile and get a “binder” . After you get the car, call the insurance company back with the VIN, etc.

If you already own an insured car, the insurance from that automobile will automatically extend to the new automobile without having to first notify your company. You can call them with the VIN, etc after you get the car.

——————————————

Question by Michael L:
Do I need to purchase automobile insurance before driving a used automobile that I purchase home?
I am thinking about buying a car. I will not know if I am buying this used automobile until I go look at it. How do I drive it home, if I will not have automobile insurance at the moment that I purchase it?
Is just seems sort of crazy to purchase automobile insurance before I actually own a car.

Answer by agent_starfire
yes, because you might not have a automobile if in an accident and you might be covered
