I passed my CBT 3 years and and passed my full motorcycle test 2 years ago. I have never had any claims or convictions. Tomorrow I will hopefully be passing my practical automobile test. Is this motorcycle craigslist-add an on the web scam?
Im looking at buying a motorcycle from craigs list and the seller wants to go through the ebay buyer protection plan and ship through dependable auto shippers. I dont know how buyer protection works and i have never bought a automobile so i dont know how the system works. below are the emails she sent me in response to inquiring about the bike. Could someone tell me if this is a potential scam and if I will be protected through the buyer protection plan?
Seller speaking about the bike:
“Hi,
The bike has 2,289 miles, 1owner. It’s in perfect condition,no engine/electric problems,no accidents/liens/loans. no scratches,never been repainted.I have all the bike ‘s manuals,2 spare keys,title,documents.I’m selling the bike because my child of only 19 died 4 months ago in a automobile accident,a drunk driver hit him and his fiancee.He was with his fiance’s automobile coming to our home at his tiny brother birthday of 10 years old. what are the motorcycle insurance fees where you live, compared with automobile insurance?
I mean the minimum required by law in your country. in some places it’s only medical coverage in case of accident, in others third-party insurance is mandatory as well – please elaborate in your answers.
I ask because where I live (Israel), it would cost 3 times as much to buy mandatory insurance for a 250CC bike than for a compact car, and the bike fees are going to get yet higher soon – so I wanted to learn how it goes in other countries.

Mr. “ride all year”, I ask this only because the insurance companies here claim that even as it is, with the bike insurance being 3 times as much as automobile insurance (insurance that only cover possible injuries both to the driver and third side, but no property damage whatsoever) – the insurance companies claim that the risk the bikers pose is yet higher than that. I just wanted to know whether it’s bullshit or not, and I assumed that in no country would insurance companies concur to actually lose money.
the problem here is that automobile owners believe they are partially paying for the biker’s insurance, and therefore support the position of the companies.
