Question by Chris:
how can automobile insurance companies argue you can save hundreds over their competitors?
It seems besides cell phones, automobile insurance is advertising the most these days. Each insurance is arguing you can save hundreds over their competitors. I feel that if you use the same premiums and standards in all policies, the costs will be close, so how are insurance companies getting away with saying their hundreds cheaper then others?

——————————————

Answer by StephenWeinstein
They do not use the same premiums. The costs are not close. In some states, the prices for insurance policies from companies that advertise on TV and do not use local agents (Geico, Progressive, etc.) are hundreds less than the prices from companies that use local agents and do not advertise on television. They can get away with saying it because it’s true.

Answer by car253
Sometimes it is true and sometimes not. Advertising is regulated by the Department of Insurance in your state.

Answer by markus2072007
When you purchase insurance on the web from one of these major companies claiming they will save you hundreds, you are taking a risk. Believe me, they have done the math. They offer the most basic insurance granted by the government. They collect money from hundreds of thousands of people each month. They do not like to pay claims! They will fight claims until it’s cost-effective for them to settle, and they do not care if you are covered or not. It’s ideal to use an independent insurance agent who wants to keep your business, and will fight for you in the event of a claim. You get to deal with a real person who will speak about the different coverages available, and how they relate to you.

——————————————

Question by Mauriciooo:
Is this any good? Or should I begin over..?
I guess you can all it a cover letter haha.. But yea is it okay? Bad? I am applying for positions as a leasing agent, auto sales agent, insurance sales, and various other sales fields. My main focus is as a leasing agent as I am exhausted of having a roomie. If all else fails I will go back to retail haha. Anyways, I have an RE license I am 20. Just let me know what u think and give me some tips. Thankss
Ps.. It looks much superior on word haha

Human Resource Manager:
I apologize for the impersonal greeting. I wanted to address this to the right person but was unable to obtain your name. I am very interested in your sales position.

My name is Mauricio Xxxxxxxx. The last three years I’ve held a job as a Sales Associate at two reputable clothing brand stores. However, I am now looking forward to apply my acquired skills and knowledge to your company.

On your on the web ad you said some basic stipulations for the position. I am excited to say that I comply with all of the requirements. In regards to working Monday-Fridays and some weekends, I have nothing but free time after 1p.m, because of my college attendance. However, I am absolutely free Fridays – Sundays.

Not only do I possess the qualifications you would want and rightly expect, but I also possess more qualities, for one, I am fluent in Spanish. Also, since I am a young college student I feel like I have the responsibility to prove to my employer that I am mature enough for the job and I promise I will try harder than anyone else. Furthermore, I welcome the challenge to perform multiple activities.
I am excited about the possibility of a personal interview at your earliest convenience. I would greatly appreciate the chance. Thank you!

Best Regards,

Answer by Jedah
gt

Answer by Doug
This letter will NOT get you an interview. Do not begin out by apologizing. Begin your letter with your name, and the position to which you are applying (the second paragraph is good).

End the third paragraph with “comply with all the requirements.” Unless the ad asks you to say when you can work, leave out the schedule discussion; you are giving the employer a chance to pass you over because of your schedule. Impress him first with a credible resume and a good cover letter, then in the interview, speak about your schedule.

Also, do not promise to work hard. That is expected.

Take another look at it with these tips in mind. Do not begin over, but rework it.

Good Luck

Question by Tanya M:
How to get around paying the over priced rate of automobile insurance for teenage drivers ?
Does anyone know of a reasonable insurance company for auto insurance ? We just added our teenage driver to our policy and it went up $ 400. She doesn’t even have a car. I have a 2007 Dodge Charger and my husband has a 2004 Chevy Avalanche.
I did not mean $ 400/yr, I meant $ 400 a month !

——————————————

Answer by anticone
Have your kid pay for her own insurance. I had to.

Answer by FIAT Guy
If she do not own a car then you can get non owners ins, it is for people who might need to drive someone elses vehicle. This might not apply in your say so call the ins co for the quote. Good Luck and God Bless

Answer by Steven D
Due to the cars you own and the age of the teenager you got off lucky. IF it only went up $ 400 for the year feel really good. The other recommendation is that the young one have their own car and carry their own insurance. That would mean they would have to get a job and be responsible….what a pleasant change that would be eh?

Question by PleaseHelp!Thanks:
We got a title loan over 2 yrs ago but the amount was small enough that they did not require us to have…?
the loan company added as a lien holder. They also did not require us to add them to our auto insurance policy. We then filed bankruptcy (which was discharged over 2 yrs ago now.) In the bankruptcy we selected to surrender the vehicle. (The loan was for $ 1700). The title loan company (an on the web cash advance kind of place) never would pick up the vehicle. They never even responded to the formal notices. I believe they are located 1000 miles away. Anyway, the automobile has been sitting ever since. We aren’t carrying insurance on it. It’s no longer current with registration or inspection. We have been afraid to drive it, fearing if we ever got pulled over it might show up as not belonging to us & then what would we do? Can someone please tell us what we should do with the vehicle? We assume we cannot legally get rid of it but should we pay to update insurance, reg, inspection, repairs, etc? We do not even know who shows up on the title or how to find out.

——————————————

Answer by John Paul
And to top all that off a non licensed automobile might be a nuisance and towed even from your drive way if neighbors complain. In Texas the non driving automobile has to have a cover over it or parked out of sight. Check your local city codes. Have you tried to apply for title to this automobile it might be all yours anyway?

Answer by oklatom
Go the the DMV with the tag and VIN. If it’s still in your name they will tell you that, they will not tell you if it’s not, but if it’s in your name they will.

If it is, the next thing is do you want to keep it and drive it? If so, get tags up to date, insure it and drive it. If not, call the nearest towing company and have it taken away.

And of course if it’s not in your name report it as abandoned and get it towed.

Answer by curious george
Legally the automobile is the property of the title loan company. No, you should not try to insure it or have it inspected. That would only complicate the matter and you would be paying for insurance, inspections, repair, etc for nothing. You could file for a lost title and try to find out the ownership of the automobile that way. Try to contact the CEO of the loan company if necessary.

——————————————

Question by just another statistic:
Progressive auto insurance accident fixes and do they screw people over and not fix what is damaged?
I was in an accident, my automobile hydroplaned off the road and I spun and hit few concrete barriers while in 4wd drive, also damaging the rear end. I reported the accident to my ins., they contacted me the next morning and told me to drop the jeep off (on 1/22/08) at the Progressive claims building for the estimate & fixes (they did not tell me I could take it to another shop, or get a second opinion. nothing). I told them 4wd is acting funny (I do not know, is it possible 4wd got damaged)? They called me later to tell me that only cosmetic damage was done, and it will b done next week. I looked on the web & read their estimate. They are using NON-oem parts, I was not informed this nor am I happy about it. I am afraid it will affect my manuf. warranty. Basically what I want to know is: Will it be ok 2 take it to a Jeep dealership for a 2nd view after they repair it, or am I going to get screwed over & get a automobile that doesn’t work right; then have no way of proving they did not fix all damage

Answer by Quicksilver82778
If the 4wd is acting up tell them it was working fine before the accident, any appraiser should be able to tell if the 4wd was damaged during the accident. If the dealer states that the 4wd was damaged let Progressive know so they can reinspect the vehicle.

They called me later to tell me that only cosmetic damage was done, and it will be done next week.
Response to first question. So, I am thinking progressive has probably started on the repairs. So when I take it to the Jeep dealer(after fixes more likely), they should be able to tell me anything missed and report it to progessive. Then progressive has to fix it, if they do not I should call to report them?

——————————————

Answer by tony s
HAVE IT CHECKED AT THE DEALER AND EXPLAIN TO THEM THE ACCIDENT IF NECCESSARY THEY WILL CALL ON PROGRESSIVE. PRINT ALL DOCUMENTS PERTAINING TO THIS ACCIDENT SAVE FOR REF. THEY HAVE TO STAND BEHIND THEIR WORK IF NOT CONTACT STATE INSURANCE COMMISSION THEY WILL HANDLE PROGRESSIVE. BUT BE LOOKING FOR ANOTHER CARRIER SOON IF YOU DO.

——————————————

Answer by netthiefx
You might have to call them on the phone, I cannot see why they would not insure an old automobile for minimum liability coverage.

The only time you run into problems is with more than minimum, like with comprehensive or if your automobile is a classic collector’s item (meaning it’s all restored), then you’d want to get it re-evaluated by an adjuster, but so long you are just using it to drive around, I cannot see a problem, probably have to call their 1-800…

Answer by Muffle T
There are a lot of insurance places open on Saturdays now!! just not long ago I got tags, insurance, and everything on a saturday!! If there is no place in your town that is open on the weekend, then I would do it online, just do a yahoo search that has ” insurance (your town)” and a list of places should show up!!
