I’m not sure what insurance company my parents use but they are taking care of it for me because i am about to inroll in college & paying for it myself.

They are helping me out.

My mother stated that it shouldn’t be more then $ 65.

if you want to look on the web type in “insurance” and you will get a lot of places to look.
the ideal advice i can give you is to either contact your parents agent or call a local independent agent where you live. they can find you the ideal coverage at the ideal rate.
online quotes are NEVER accurate as they do not pull your MVR, CLUE, or credit. they usually come back higher than quoted.
you also really want an actual human being working for you that knows your policy when you need help or have a claim.
if you just HAVE to go online, try Progressive or Nationwide.

Mbr firstly i’d like to say, with no disrespect, that your mind set is truly discouraging in the fact that you assume that it’s a “wish” car. Why do not you think that I am a HARDworking student whose parents have the means to afford luxury? I am on my way to a scholarship to Johns Hopkins for both college and medical school as I aspire to become a cardiothoracic surgeon without naming too many of my accomplishments. Secondly, thank you for the honest response. Taking that into consideration, I will simply obtain a dealer plate under my father for a mere 6 grand a year (covers up to 30k costs).

P.S.: The automobile will not be brand new as it will be from the Adesa Auto Auction and therefore will cost a mere fifty-sixty grand with ~30k miles, which is absolutely affordable.

I’m an agent, I have been an agent for 25 years. Just so you know I am not making it up.

I realize this is a wish car, and everyone knows it’s not going to happen.

The main factor besides your age that comes into play, is which coverages you want, and how much of those coverages. So, assuming you are in Houston, Texas, and only want bare bones minimum, what you need to hang the plates (no coverage on the automobile itself), that is going to cost you around $ 3,000 a year.

If you want decent liability coverages, AND collision and theft, THAT is probably going to run you darned close to $ 25,000 a year, IF you can find an insurance company willing to insure that automobile with a 16 year old driver. Most flat out will not give you a policy. Max is not blowing smoke out his b*tt. Insurance companies have “prohibited vehicle” and “restricted vehicle” lists, and really costly fancy sports automobiles like that one are flat out prohibited, no matter how old you are.

If you were 50, with a perfect driving record, and you want to insure a automobile that costs more than $ 60,000 new, you will have a hard time finding coverage. More than $ 80,000, it’s going to be impossible at under five figures. If there is a kid in the household, under 25, or ANY moving violations at all, that automobile will not be insurable on the standard market. If you are 16, and want to insure a automobile valued at more than $ 40,000, it’s probably not going to happen.

Dude. When you have that first accident and your father’s dealership figures out he is letting his 16 year old kid drive a $ 100,000 automobile on dealer plates, he is going to have some MAJOR business problems. I do not care if he owns it, or owns a chain – if he does that, he will lose his insurance, and will have a damn hard time finding any more. And if he cannot carry insurance, he will lose his dealership. I really do not think YOUR automobile is worth that much, to him.

It doesn’t matter how much you PAY for the car. And those dealer plates only cover LIABILITY, not physical damage – which you can purchase cheaper yourself.

Yeah, I have insured dealerships, too.

And . . . sorry, I do not believe your story. Hardworking children who want to go to medical school, and are ALREADY on college scholarship, aren’t that financially dumb, to blow $ 56,000 on a depreciating asset. And if you have got that money, you are not going to GET a scholarship based on need.

unfortunately what they stated is true, any insurance company will run a credit report. or even if you are buying anything huge they do a credit report, they want to make sure they get paid.

Insurance companies several years ago got the commissions in most says to grant them to rate drivers based on credit rating … good credit = good driver, bad credit= bad driver … which is just a bunch of BS. But insurance companies needed another item to based increase charges on. And the kicker is when you shop for insurance and go to several companies, all the checks does lower your score. Just another racket by insurance companies to manipulate the system.

The legality of that is questionable, but it is common practice now days in nearly any business. At least they told you about it, most don’t. Employers check it now days also. If your credit report looks bad you will begin having problems getting jobs, rental houses, insurance, and who knows what else, and most denials will not say that it was because of your credit report. Is also ironic that checking your report leaves a bad mark when all the businesses want to check it without your consent or knowledge. Clean up any bad items on your report, wait a bit, and try again. Good luck.

What say do you live in? Sometimes the say insurance department has comparisons you can get ideas for quotes. The thing is, insurance companies main factor to determine your rate is your claim history. Without detailed information about you, they can not look up your clue report and see how many claims you have had. And they also need ways of checking how many tickets you have had in last 3 years – Thats for automobile insurance, now if you are speaking about home insurance, they still have a clue report for the house, so carriers will need that info. If you do not want to be called or get mail, call 4-5 carriers.

In order to get a VALID quote, you have to give enough information for a credit check. Otherwise, it’s just a guess. You ALSO need to provide information about the car.

I know Progressive will NOT market to your information, if you want to get a quote on their website. But the most effecient way to get a quote, is to go to a local, independent agent, who can get you quotes from 5 – 10 different companies. Then you just tell the agent, do not call me, and they won’t.

You would not get an accurate quote without this info.They could guess and you could get a quote, but it might not be anywhere close to your actual premium unless you provide more in depth info.

I work for the company I have all my insurance with and still get calls and junk mail from other companies.

Can they do this? Not only did they refuse to insure me (when they have done for so many years now), then they sent a letter saying they have decided to terminate it, without giving a reason, and they dont even mention anything about the money theyv charged me, I had to call in, and they tell me they wont refund the money?????
Yes sorry I mean insurance policy, and I was charged and the money taken from my account.
They cancelled it after a few days, so i should be entitled to the full refund? Also i live in the UK.

How can they terminate a “quote” ? I believe You mean that they terminated your coverage or your policy with them.
Since you do not mention what country you live in, it will be difficult for anyone to give you an answer.
In the USA, Any insurance company might cancel an insured anytime they desire, for any reason they desire. However, when/if they cancel, the remaining premium (if any) would be returned to the insured.
