Question by mike:
If I purchase a new automobile will my auto insurance run my driving record again?
My husband and I currently own a truck and have an exisiting comprehensive auto insurance policy in Texas. If we purchase a new automobile (thereby removing the truck and adding the new automobile to our policy but not changing anything else) will the insurance company run his driving record again?

Answer by Gor
Hi,

I did that here in CA, and NO they did not. Same thing goes for “good student discount”, you only need it for 1 semester (college). So if you try hard 1 semester and get A’s & B’s you will have a good student discount forever I am guessing…

Answer by David W
Probably not, since it costs them money to do it. Unless you have had a claim history, they will not do it regularly due to the cost.

Answer by brook
Generally speaking, the only time the insurance company looks at your driving record is when they are about to renew your policy. Try this site to find the ideal auto insurance

http://best-auto-ins-usa.blogspot.com/

Here you can get quotes from different auto insurance companies in your area, its the ideal way to find an inexpensive auto insurance with a reliable company.

Question by heather:
How can i keep a speeding ticket from being on my record?
I’m 25 and just got my first speeding ticket. 44 in a 25 in Virginia. I do not mind paying the fine as much as I mind my insurance going up so I’d like to find a way to get this taken care of. My court date is not til Dec 23. Can I do an on the web traffic school course or something to get out of it? Or is there something I can state in court that will help? I know if I show up for the court date I will probably get my fine reduced. It happened at around 11:30 at night and I was going downhill. The cop was pretty nice and I am sure he left it at 44 so I would not get a reckless driving. I was just driving on auto-pilot on my way home from work so I do not really know how fast I was going. I shoulda known it was quota time though after I saw 8 people pulled over on I-81 when there are usually no cops at all.

Answer by Califrich
You can keep it off your record by going to court if you are not guilty and fighting it. Good luck.

Answer by Driving School Instructor
Yes take a traffic school class to have the mark/ point removed from your license, The fastest and cheapest is TicketRelief.com if you need to know that info also

Question by Just ME:
My auto insurance company sent me to a collection agency, is this going to be on my credit record?
I cancelled my auto ins. and they charged me a cancelation fee. I disagreed with this but all they kept saying was “I should of read my policy”…. To make a long story short I owed them $ 33.86 and it was due on 1/20. I called them on 1/29 and paid them over the phone. I just received a letter from a collection bureau saying I owe them the balance. I called the insurance company and they stated that they would forward my message to their bookkeeping department and contact the collection bureau to tell them this has been paid. I am applying for a small business loan and cannot afford to have something like this show up on my report. Is there any grace period on behalf of the collection bureau before they report to the 3 credit bureus?? Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!!

——————————————

Answer by Mapler
It’ll go oin your Insurance & collection bureau record.

Answer by annmouse5
The first thing you need to do is call the credit collection bureau with the information of your payment, such as payment method, amount, and any confirmation number they gave you. You need to do it soon before it goes on your credit, because it totally can if you do not get it resolved ASAP. Good luck.

Answer by fungusbrains1
1. $ 33.86 will go on your credit record eventually, but it will not keep you from borrowing money. It will not injured you.
2. If you try to borrow money, the worst that might happen if they want to be an ass is to explain the $ 33.86. I have purchased a home and a automobile with worse than that.
3. Check your insurance policy or contract. See if it states something about it. If it does, they are right–pay them. If it doesn’t, threaten to report them to an insurance regulatory agency. Or, send a copy of the contract to the collection agency. If you can prove you do not owe it, they will not try to collect it or turn you in.

——————————————

Question by Scoob:
Can my auto insurance company place a claim on my record by simply calling to ask a question?
I was in my boyfriend’s truck and backed into our garage door. I called my auto ins. to ask if I needed to make a claim or if he did since it was his truck. They stated he should, and he did. I recently was getting ins. quotes and found out it is on my record, even though his insurance paid for the damages.

——————————————

Answer by forcierjohn
i here different things like the automobile insurance is on the automobile not the person and i here the insurance is on you not the car

Answer by Fred C
It might have been his claim, but it was still your single car at-fault accident.
Sorry.

Answer by foxychick24
When you provide initial information such as name, address, drivers license number, and social security number to an insurance company, the purpose for this information is because they are going to run a dmv check along with a soft credit report check. Upon receipt of the report they have your driving history (well about 6 years of it).

Your accident when you were driving your boyfriend’s truck will appear as the driver of that vehicle, but it will list him as the policyholder (it will also list how much was paid out in the accident and it should also demonstrate if it was paid through comp- cp or collision- co or medical- m or pi).

So regardless if you were the policyholder, or not you will still be listed as the driver (since you were driving the truck when the accident happened).

Hope that helps….

——————————————

Question by hypoE:
Why is my automobile insurance going up if I have a good driving record?
I just moved about a block from my old rental (old lease was for 2 years) so I updated my address at my insurance. The policy went up to about 100$ a month which I do not comprehend because I have been told I am low risk and in the preferred age category 25+. I have a cousin about 9 years older who has multiple accidents, claims and tickets who only pays 60$ . So what the heck is going on? I am comparing apples to apples on deductibles but it seems as if the insurance companies are punishing me for having a clean record with no accidents. I am just about 30 years old and only have one automobile a 2000 Saturn LW2 that I have owned outright for 6 years without payments. Even my younger friends who still celebration and drink pay lower than I do. Is it possible there is false information that the insurance companies are basing my rate on? The lowest rate I have been able to find is 70$ a month… but everything else is over 150$ per month……grr. I am a complete square and only drive up to 5 miles total a day for commute so I do not see why I should be paying so much. I was told by a friend that I should have had a price drop when I hit 26 because that is the cut off for DUI risk but it hasn’t happened.

——————————————

Answer by Sheila Lee
They always ask where the automobile is going to be parked at each night. The area you live in has a lot to do with your rate. Live in a good area? Your rates are low. Live in a high crime area? More likely to have higher rates due to crime

Answer by jldude
Because insurance companies are crooks…oh sorry, did not mean to throw around my view there. But seriously, who else do you pay $ 150 a month for something you will probably never use yet HAVE to have? When I was in an accident i did not even file a claim with my insurer, the chic who was responsible’s insurance covered it. Where did my premium go? I state if I go 10 years with no accidents or tickets, I should get a refund. Let the careless drivers pay for their own accidents out of their own pocket instead of distributing someone else’s expense to good drivers…

Answer by Santa Clauz
Welcome to the New Insured Corporate America! lol
Ok, seriously,
If your zip code changed – your rates will differ. Ins Co’s figure ratings on average accidents/crime rates per zip codes.
Your parking status will cause change also – such as garage parking vs street parking.
Some insurance co’s base your rates on your current credit ratings
Call your agent and ask why are your rates going up for moving a few blocks. By law they have to give you a detailed answer.
good luck

——————————————

Question by mb20and151:
How can I find out if something has been taken off of my driving record?
A couple years ago I was ticketed for an illegal U-turn. I did an on the web traffic school and paid a fine. They had stated something about changing it to a parking ticket at the time. Now I am searching for new auto insurance and it keeps asking if I have violations. I do not know if this incident will show up on my record anymore. Where can I find this out?

Answer by italy_coolfun
Very easily, go to your local DMV and request a driving record. They might charge you $ 10. Some Says grant you to check it on the web for a fee as well.

Answer by oklatom
Although you cannot walk in and get information about anyone else, your record is open to you. Walk in and ask. There will be a fee, but you will be granted to get a copy of your driving record.

Answer by Elizabeth P
order a driving record, or if your lucky and your say has a judicary case search, then you can look and see if its still active… that helps a lot too

Thanks so much for reading!
I have three at-fault accidents on my record within the past 2 yrs. I am an 18 yr. old female college student. All three are types that could have happened to anybody.. one was sliding on ice into a ditch, two was van breaking down in middle of the intersection and it “struck” another automobile in the next lane because of the angle my van was, three was me pulling out of my spot very slowly and a van was speeding through the parking lot in the middle of two lanes and my rear hit him. Anyway…
I need to get a different automobile soon… I am going to get a loan so putting it on liability is not an option (I have the automobile I have now on lia. because it’s payed off but I have to get rid of it). Each company I get quoted for (online quote) has large monthly (even for minimum coverage) payments.. Geico and Say Farm are $ 520 and $ 540 and I am pretty sure it’s because of my history…
Many places I am quoted on are like this… am I missing something? Is there any way to get around this?? Thank you so much!

——————————————

Answer by dick automobile guy
FIRST OF ALL FORGET THAT ONLINE QUOTE BULL. you need to sit down and contact the local agents in your area, get a blank pad of paper and call all of the ones in the phone book, and write down the quotes, if you still have insurance on your automobile now, good, that helps, you can try to get a six month policy, or a one year policy, but write down all the different quotes, even call different agents with the same company, each quote will be different, Your insurance is going to be high, but not as bad as those on the web quotes were. ideal of luck.

Answer by blood in stool
Hey somebody,

The ideal you can do right now is to keep shopping around until you find a more suitable quotes. And in the near future endeavor to be more careful when you are driving as i do not concur that these three incidents could happen to anyone.

Below is a resource i would advocate if you are serious about getting great deals on automobile and van insurance.

Hope this helps.

Answer by owlcroft
First off, I think somehow Yahoo recommended the wrong category for your question. However, if you somehow got the speeding ticket erased, then you do not have to list it. If you just paid it off, then you should. Clerical errors can be found and corrected later, and if you have fudged your info to the insurance company, they can cancel your policy or refuse to pay out on a claim.

Hope that helps!
