DRIVING ON SOMEONE ELSES CAR INSURANCE?
Jan 18th
Question by impactofreasons:
Driving on someone elses automobile insurance?
I’m 18 and shopping for automobile insurance and the quotes are ridiculous, (like 280 a month for minimal coverage). However would it be possible/legal to have my girlfriend who is 20 and in college be the legal owner of the automobile and have the automobile under her policy, but I drive it daily and still be covered?
The insurance quotes for her are MUCH cheaper, like (40 a month). The reason I am asking is because a friend of mine told me that as long as the automobile I am driving is insured by someone, and I am driving with their consent, I am insured. Is this true?

Q&A: IS THERE A WAY TO VERIFY IF SOMEONE IS COVERED BY AUTO INSURANCE?
Jan 5th
Question by :
Is there a way to verify if someone is covered by auto insurance?
My daughter was in an auto accident where the other person was at fault. The insurance policy that she gave was canceled a tiny over a month ago. Is there some way we can check to see if this person has a new policy some where else? The automobile she was driving was a 2008 so I would assume she has a loan on it and that would require her to have full coverage.

SOMEONE HITS MY PARKED CAR AND LEAVES THE SCENE,DOES THAT FALL UNDER COLLISION OR COMPREHENSIVE DEDUCTIBLE?
Nov 12th
Question by Kyle E:
Someone hits my parked automobile and leaves the scene, does that fall under collision or comprehensive deductible?
I noticed while looking at automobile insurance quotes on the web that there is a separate deductible for collision and comprehensive incidents. I think I have an understanding of the difference but I need to know which of those deductibles would apply to a situation where someone crashed into my automobile while it was parked in a public parking lot. The person fled the scene leaving no note. My deductibles are different amounts for each type so I need to know which one would pertain to this situation. Thanks.

CAN YOU BE SUED PERSONALLY AT THE SAME TIME SOMEONE HAS AN AUTO INSURANCE CLAIM AGAINST YOU?
Nov 12th
Question by russ_0067:
Can you be sued personally at the same time someone has an auto insurance claim against you?
My wife was involved in an auto accident last October. The other celebration submitted a claim to our insurance company this February for personal injury. The insurance company has determined very tiny liability and have not been able to come to an agreement on the terms of settlement. We have just discovered the other celebration has filed a personal injury suit against my wife. Can this be done at the same time? Is the insurance company supposed to deal with this? If the other celebration gets paid by the insurance company, would my wife still be liable for damages? What if the insurance company and the other celebration never come to an agreement? Help?!

Please help, I am so so confused!!! I have looked for on the web explanations and they are not much good! Thanks

SOMEONE HIT MY PARKED CAR AND LEFT. INSURANCE SAYS I HAVE A DEDUCTIBLE OF $1000? IS THIS TRUE?
Nov 9th
Question by :
Someone hit my parked automobile and left. Insurance states I have a deductible of 00? Is this true?
I read on the web the following:
In California, the Insurance Code specifically requires insurers to waive property damage deductibles in the event the UIM is a hit and run driver who could not be located.
addendum: California Insurance Code §11580.26 effectively mandates a waiver of an insured’s collision coverage deductible where the damage to the insured’s automobile has been caused by an uninsured motorist, including unidentified hit-and-run drivers deemed to be uninsured. Motorists.
Who is telling the truth? My insurance company or the website? Here is a link to the code, in thick legalese.

The ethnicity of the jerk that hit me has nothing to do with the question…
There are unfortunately no video cameras in the parking lot. I was at work at the time and did not hear my alarm go off when my automobile was hit, and I am not sure if there were any witnesses. I posted flyers around the surrounding businesses requesting details, but so far there have been no responses.

DOES YOUR AUTO INSURANCE GO UP IF SOMEONE ON YOUR INSURANCE GETS INTO AN ACCIDENT?

Question by Theresa L:
Does your auto insurance go up if someone on your insurance gets into an accident?
My boyfriends mother is making him get his own auto insurance because she doesn’t like him driving on CA-17. Would her auto insurance, as in the insurance that it costs to cover her car, go up if he got in an accident in his automobile that is under his name on her insurance policy?

WHAT IF SOMEONE BOUGHT A CAR FROM ME AS IS AND SOLD THE SAME CAR WITHIN 10 DAYS?
Oct 20th
Question by big_head:
What if someone purchased a automobile from me as is and sold the same automobile within 10 days?
I sold my automobile last week to Lady A. It was a private-party sale. “SOLD AS IS” was put into the contract of sale. I signed the Pink Title Sheet and handed over at the time of the sale.
I notified the DMV on the web that I sold my automobile (Notice of Transfer and Release of Liability) and called my insurance company and have the automobile removed from my policy few hours after the sale.
Few days later, Lady A called and told me that she did not report the change of ownership to the DMV and yet sold the automobile to Lady B.
According to California DMV “The seller is responsible for reporting the change of ownership to DMV within 5 days from the date of sale. …… The purchaser is responsible for reporting the change of ownership to DMV within 10 days from the date of purchase”.
Since Lady A did not report the change of ownership to the DMV and yet sold the automobile to Lady B within 10 days, the “seller” on the Pink Title Sheet would still be me.
Do I have to do anything in this case?
