To future effect a policy means basically it does not begin immediately. For example if you purchased that discount from me I would take you payment and begin the six month policy except it would begin the following week. They give you a price break for this because it grants them to underwrite your policy absolutely before you are actively a risk to the company, and that saves them lots of money each year. If you can wait a week or so before your insurance starts its practically a free discount.

Question by Sweetask:
Does auto insurance cover a person or an automobile? What if someone drives your insured automobile and they have none
If you drive someone’s automobile who has insurance on their automobile but you do not have any auto insurance and you get in a wreck does their insurance cover it or could you get a ticket for driving without insurance? Would you be an uninsured motorist even if the automobile you drove was covered by someone elses insurance?
the automobile I would be driving is covered by the friend’s insurance. I just dont have any insurance since I sold my car
What about my husbands car? Am I granted to drive his automobile when I have no insurance and my name isnt on his policy? But he does have insurance

——————————————

Answer by pillabrut02
If the accident was caused by you then you are responsible for paying for the damages to the other person’s car. In some cases, however, the person doesn’t have the means to pay for the damages and they are also uninsured in which case they end up in a place called prison. It is illegal to drive a automobile without insurance.

Answer by MancalledDad
Simply, the insurance is on the car, no matter who the driver is.

Answer by CFP L.L.
When someone allows you permission to drive their cars, their auto insurance is the primary coverage for that trip. Only if there is a gap, your insurance will be liable.

You should would be violating the law if you drive in a say requiring auto insurance without a coverage. But again, if they allow you the permission to drive, their coverage is used.

This would make it seems that the insurance is by the car, but actually it’s also by the owner. For example, if you rent a car, your auto policy will cover the rental car. If you are a pedestrian during a automobile accident, your auto policy also covers you.

——————————————

Question by Valerie:
When buying auto insurance, why do they do a credit check?
Why does your credit effect your insurance premium. My insurance company withdraws my premium directly out of my checking account, and if I do not pay my insurance, they would simply cancel my policy, so what role does credit have in this situation. I must of had a “ding” or two on my credit, because after I was quoted, my premium went up a few bucks a month after they ran my credit. I have never caused and accident, nor had ANY moving violations……been driving 17 years….what gives? Is this just a way to get more money out of us? Being late on a couple bills over the years does not make you a reckless driver!

——————————————

Answer by are_see_bee
The “thinking” is that responsible folks have good credit and it’s all relative to your driving ability….I personally do not agree, my credit stinks, but I am a good driver, and my driving record proves it, however, recently most of the huge insurance agencies did begin using credit scores/ratings to base their rates on. It’s not fair, but what choice do we have

Answer by kirsten h
what can you do in the world this day without good credit? not much. they check your credit because they along with each other business in the world feel that if you are responsible in paying your bills, you are a superior risk and that you are more careful in driving and take superior care of your property. they do not run the typical credit report and can’t see what is on your credit. they run an insurance credit score which basically tells them only if you have a high, med, or low score. the superior the score the superior rates you get.

Answer by mbrcatz17
It’s like prior speeding tickets – insurance companies have found a direct corrolation between credit score, and claims paid out.

There have not been any studies, to the ideal of my knowledge, WHY people with lower scores have more claims filed, and more paid out on claims – so anyone who states “it’s because you do not maintain your car” or “its because you driver carelessly” is speaking out of their hat (or, SHOW ME THE STUDY!!!).

But I have seen the charts with my own eyes!! That show, people with a credit score of 705, on average, have $ 1 paid out in claims for each $ 1 paid in premiums; and people with a 550 have $ 2.50 paid out for each $ 1 paid in premiums.

Insurance departments in just about each say grant credit score to be used as a rating factor, because the mathematical relationship is THERE, and is PROVEN.

Sorry, they really do not care about why.

Now, what you need to do, is get a copy of your credit report and clean it up!! MOST of the time, closing out all the unused, newer accounts can seriously increase your score – as it’s not just about paying bills on time, but how many times you have applied for credit in the past six months, how many accounts you have open, balance due on accounts, available credit (lower those credit lines!!), and the average length each account has been open.

Yep, people who move from one credit card company to the other each year, getting the lowest interest rate, and always paying on time, have a WORSE credit score than someone with a couple late payments, that is had the account for 10 years.

Hope that helps.

——————————————

Question by Susan B:
When you ask for a quote for insurance from Netquote can they pull a credit report on you?
I clicked on a link to see what quotes they would give me for auto insurance and after about a dozen quotes, I started getting rejected for insurance. The reason I was given was “too many inquiries to my credit record.” I enquired and was told that over 14 insurance companies had ran a credit report on me. I never gave them a social security number or anything–they just ran one. I called and they stated they had the right to do this–it was in the very fine print of the terms of the offer. I can’t find where it says they can run a credit report on me.

——————————————

Answer by bonnie m
unfortunately what they stated is true, any insurance company will run a credit report. or even if you are buying anything huge they do a credit report, they want to make sure they get paid.

Answer by J C
Insurance companies several years ago got the commissions in most says to grant them to rate drivers based on credit rating … good credit = good driver, bad credit= bad driver … which is just a bunch of BS. But insurance companies needed another item to based increase charges on. And the kicker is when you shop for insurance and go to several companies, all the checks does lower your score. Just another racket by insurance companies to manipulate the system.

Answer by arealmountainman
The legality of that is questionable, but it is common practice now days in nearly any business. At least they told you about it, most don’t. Employers check it now days also. If your credit report looks bad you will begin having problems getting jobs, rental houses, insurance, and who knows what else, and most denials will not say that it was because of your credit report. Is also ironic that checking your report leaves a bad mark when all the businesses want to check it without your consent or knowledge. Clean up any bad items on your report, wait a bit, and try again. Good luck.

——————————————

Question by samoniqueh:
Im 18 and I live in florida and i just got a quote for auto insurance and they stated it would be 236 a month?
I just got a quote for a 2002 Chevrolet Malibu. I wont be making any payments on it. Im 18 years old and the insurance is going to make me pay a down payment of $ 502 and my Monthly payments will be $ 236. So many people tell me that I need to shop around more. I have a learners License now. If i go and take the operators test i already know i will fail so I need more practice on my own I CAN drive just dont have much experience on a real road. So is $ 236 good you know for someone my age.? I really need this automobile before the end of the month. I have to have a way to go to college and Work.
I dont have much of a choice when it comes to relatives. Both my parents are deceased. I called Progressive they want abmost 500 dollars
anyone who can just IM me on AIM OR AOL at MrzMiami305 or email me Samoniqueh@yahoo.com

Answer by K&K
i live in fort walton im 17 with a leaners permit and my insurance is 109 a month on my 2008 z06 corvette.

Answer by Camaro355Z/28
I would think more around $ 200 a month would be a tiny better. It is very high but I was in the same boat once and remember paying $ 213. You can shop around more if you’d like, it’s your money.

Question by ━═★Lucky13★═━:
Does Safe Auto insurance cost more since they do not check credit?
I just saw a commercial for Safe Auto & they stated they do not check credit. Do most other insurance companies check it? And does that make Safe Auto’s rates higher? Basically, I need liability insurance and as cheap as possible. I do not have a bad driving record but my credit is not good.

——————————————

Answer by rottendog93
Yes they are high, and for minimum coverage. Minimum coverage might keep Johnny law off your butt, but it will not do much for you if you injure someone or do major damage.

Answer by Entidtil
Basically…..Some check credit, some don’t. Simply call around for quotes and select the ideal quote for you and your circumstances…..basically

Answer by lucy
Safe Auto is high risk insurance, that is the reason they say they do not check credit, since most people who purchase it, cant purchase from a huge name auto insurance company due to their credit, driving record of tickets, or multiple accidents in the past.

Your ideal bet is to get multiple quotes from at least 3 companies. I recommend you call a agent and discuss and they will give you their suggestions. Also, with any high risk auto, most only have minimum limits only, so if you have any assets, you need more than the minimum to protect you.

As a general rule, any accidents/tickets etc will stay on your record for 3 years and if as you say you driving record is good, I recommend you try some of the other companies even with bad credit, since the rates they will charge will most likely be cheaper than Safe Auto.

good luck

Question by dlavaee:
Can someone file a claim w/ the other persons insurance if they personally dont have auto insurance themselves?
I have a client whose automobile got rear ended by another automobile and he is suffering a pretty bad knee injury due to the accident. Can he file a claim with the other persons insurance company even if he personally doesnt have auto insurance? I know in the say of California it is illegal to drive without automobile insurance, but does that mean he cant file a claim for his automobile and injuries? Thanks

——————————————

Answer by fighting saints
CA is a “no pay no play” state. Which means an uninsured driver who is not at-fault for an accident can not collect for pain and suffering resulting from an injury. He might get his medical bills paid but he will not get any of that money because it will go directly to the doctor.

He can collect on the automobile damages with no problem.

He can file a claim but he will be severely limited in what he can collect on. The at-fault celebrations insurance company should notify him in writing what can can be paid and what cannot be paid.

Driving without insurance is going to cost this person a good chunk of injury money.

Answer by David
Yes, he can, and he can probably collect, too, but he will have issues with the DMV when he cannot prove his insurance–such as a suspended license. And if he has an at-fault accident, it will only get worse.

——————————————

Answer by answer man
Driving a automobile and owning a home are privileges which can be regulated.

If they give you the ideal rate, go for it.

Question by AskRayOkay:
Court gave me a point for jaywalking now my auto insurance is high, can they do that?
I got a ticket from the police 2 years ago when I was 15 and a half. I am now 18 and I recently got my license, but when I applied for auto insurance it was 150 dollars more than usual because of the point court gave me for jaywalking 2 years ago. Did they make a mistake or can they really do that? It had nothing to do with driving! Now, I cannot drive because I cannot afford my insurance and they told me it’ll take 3 years until it’s absolutely off my record. I am screwed! Anybody have any recommendations on who I should complain to or if they can really do that! It’ll help a lot! thanks.

Answer by Bill P
You are right. It had nothing to do with driving. Find another insurance company

Answer by JetDoc
Obviously they CAN do it, because they did do it!

Actions have consequences, and if you break the rules, you will just have to deal with what happens when you get caught.
