Q&A: DOES THIS CAR INSURANCE QUOTE SEEM RIGHT FOR FLORIDA?
Jan 4th
Question by :
Does this automobile insurance quote seem right for Florida?
I am moving from NY to Fl in a few months and called my insurance company (liberty mutual) this day to get a quote and the amount I got is almost three times what I pay now! Currenly I pay $ 3700 a year and the Fl quote is for $ 9410!!! I am 29 and financing a 2009 Nissan sentra. I was told that Florida goes back 6 years on your record and one fender bender and a violation of “yielding” at a stop sign came up. I knew that it be higher because of those but this seems crazy!

CAR INSURANCE CLAIM- DOES THIS SOUND RIGHT?
Dec 26th
Question by Erica:
Car insurance claim- does this sound right?
Ok so I live in Canada, I purchased my automobile in Canada however it’s originally from the says and it is done in miles. I got my automobile 3 years. It is a 1995 Mitsubishi mirage (only sold in the states, however the dodge colt is the Canadian equivalent) When I got the automobile around it had around 90,000 km (54,000 miles).
I got in an accident at the end of august, writing off the car. The automobile was repairable but the fixes were worth more than the automobile was. The automobile had 135,000 km at that time and everything worked perfectly, I never had an issue with it. The interior and exterior were in good condition.
The original automobile insurance quote for my automobile stated I should get $ 4500 for it, however, I got a phone call this morning saying BECAUSE it is American they do not really have a comparison (but they do- the dodge colt)and I will only get $ 1800 for my car. I could’ve sold it for around $ 3500-4500 before I crashed it.
What do you guys think about this? I do not know very much about insurance.
oh I forgot, I purchased it for $ 6000, if that is relevant

SOMEONE HIT MY PARKED CAR AND LEFT. INSURANCE SAYS I HAVE A DEDUCTIBLE OF $1000? IS THIS TRUE?
Nov 9th
Question by :
Someone hit my parked automobile and left. Insurance states I have a deductible of 00? Is this true?
I read on the web the following:
In California, the Insurance Code specifically requires insurers to waive property damage deductibles in the event the UIM is a hit and run driver who could not be located.
addendum: California Insurance Code §11580.26 effectively mandates a waiver of an insured’s collision coverage deductible where the damage to the insured’s automobile has been caused by an uninsured motorist, including unidentified hit-and-run drivers deemed to be uninsured. Motorists.
Who is telling the truth? My insurance company or the website? Here is a link to the code, in thick legalese.
http://law.onecle.com/california/insurance/11580.26.html
The ethnicity of the jerk that hit me has nothing to do with the question…
There are unfortunately no video cameras in the parking lot. I was at work at the time and did not hear my alarm go off when my automobile was hit, and I am not sure if there were any witnesses. I posted flyers around the surrounding businesses requesting details, but so far there have been no responses.

Q&A: WHY DOES THE NEW OBAMACARE BILL TIE INSURANCE TO YOUR EMPLOYMENT?? THIS IS AN OUT-DATED IDEA!?
Oct 30th
Question by Bobbi:
WHY does the new Obamacare bill tie insurance to your employment?? This is an out-dated idea!?
Government meddling in the WW2 era brought health insurance as an employee benefit. But know, people do not keep their jobs for 30 years. Yet the Obamcare bill STILL encourages the practice of ‘employer-provided’ benefits. WHY ??? Why cannot the health care reform OUT of the benefits package, and into the hand of individuals. We worked 15 years, the place closed. 15 years of the same insurance. New job, new health plan, and another wait for ‘pre-existing’ conditions. That job lasted two years. So once again, we are insurance shopping. Compare that to our automobile and life insurance. We have had the same plan with the same company for 20 years, even crossing say lines. The way I read the Obamacare bill, you will still need to change companies as you move from one employer to another. And what happens if the place you work closes? Where to you get a policy? Who pays? Tying into the employment is out-dated. Why is this benefit still pushed? The government could offer employers a credit to contribute to an employees HSA account (like paying $ 4000 into a employees’ HSA plan, to help the employee to pay for their own premium.) Why not do this ??
*wiki- The federal government did not think about an increase in health benefits a violation of these wage controls, and in 1943 the IRS ruled that health benefits were tax exempt for workers. After the wage caps were abolished, health insurance benefits became seen as the norm and were not eliminated. For instance, by the early 1960s, General Motors was paying 100% of the healthcare bills for their employees (retirees included).*
