Question by Goofoo:
Why is auto insurance through Geico so cheap?
I’ve been shopping around for automobile insurance and I am surprised at the quoted price of Geico in comparison to most other companies. Geico is much cheaper than my current insurance company, and many other insurance companies.

How can they offer such cheap rates, especially with all of the advertising they do? Are people having difficulty getting money out of Geico when they make claims?

It just seems odd to me that they can offer such low rates.

——————————————

Answer by Sandy
liberty mutual is much cheaper! (believe me i had geico for 3 years and now i pay 600 less per year using liberty mutual.) Also, Geico is not very good at paperwork when you do have a problem. It took me a month of phone tag and fax tag to clear up an incident that someone backed into my car, till this day they have it listed as an accident when it wasnt supposed to be( which causes me to have points on my insurance) .. i still am fighting with them over it a year and a half later.) i boycotted geico… check out liberty mutual tho.. the customer service reps are a lot nicer and helpful. plus they are MUCH CHEAPER!

Answer by roger m
Actually, when you see someone doing a lot of advertising over and over, it means that it is paying for them, else they would not be doing it.
But I have heard a few people state that they were not the cheapest, it all depends on might factors… but anyway when I find a cheaper quote than my current insurers I am usually delighted, so you should be too I hope
I like http://get-smart-about-motorcars.moneysavecenter.com?id=wwnm

Answer by Cyber Surfer
Seems odd to me that you find Geico so cheap. I bet you are like my neighbor, he drives an old piece of junk and still pays twice what I pay!

——————————————

Answer by Suri
You can check http://car-insurance.tipsvilla.com for details.

Answer by BestYahooAnswers
i do not think that they might charge some thing special for their insurance. Anyway the fee would be for all.For fuel, driver, insurance ad for other expenses too.

Anyway its superior to ask from them directly.otherwise you will get in to a large problem as you thinks like this.all the bets.

Question by NT-ster:
Has anyone repaired a automobile windshield crack through their auto insurance?
I was driving on the freeway and a large rock hit my windshield. This left a chip about the size of a quarter and I am afraid it will continue to crack. Is this something I can get repaired and have it covered by my auto insurance (Mercury)? If anyone has experience, any advice would be great! Thanks!

——————————————

Answer by itsthewill
if you have “glass breakage protection” insurance will cover it less the deductable

Answer by MSAD
Glass damage is covered under your comprehensive coverage.

If you have comprehensive on your car, call your agent. Your agent can assist you in filing the claim.

Answer by Bobby Jim
Check your policy, or with your insurance agent… check for “full glass coverage” on your policy.
Then follow through with the estimate and/or repair.

If you do not have “full glass,” you can still have it repaired, but you will be liable to pay the deductible.

Answer by powerplayer
I’m not sure but my father states Allstate automobile insurance is good.

Answer by Celeste E
Nationwide.com

Answer by Bob
The huge three companies are St. Farm, Allstate, and Farmers. If you do not feel you need an agent try calling Geico and you might save some money. An excellent company based in Ohio is Ohio Casualty. All will give a discount for insuring both your home and autos. To compare rates try www.directoryinsurance.com. Remember that independent agents such as those used by Ohio Casualty have contracts with numerous companies and they can give you options. Companies such as St. Farm, Allstate, and Farmers have agents that write business soley for the company they work for. Keep in mind that agents represent the company they write business for not the client.

Question by joe:
i need help i purchased a automobile and the loan didnt go through and now the dealerships trying to prorate me?!?!?
ok i went to a used automobile lot called automacks inc. in cocoa florida. i found this automobile on the web and liked what i saw and it was with in my price range. well the first week i had it the automobile overheated and i called the guy and he stated that he would fix it no problem. well i didnt really want to keep it because of this but i sighed the papers and on my contract i read that once it was sighed there was no grace period or cooling off period so the deal was done and i was willing to accept this and move forward. so i ended up missing two days of work for this because it was being fixed by his mechanic. it ended up being the thermostat which was not a problem i comprehend things happen. so to some things up after i got the automobile back it drove great its an 2003 cavilier by the way, so anyways i needed to come up with some paper work i needed my bank statement and to show him i had full coverage insurance on the automobile so a week later i took it to him and i guess he never submitted it to the lender at the time he recived the imformation so two weeks go by and in those two weeks i got laid off and the same day the finance company called to verify my employment there and they were informed i was laid off due to economical cut backs and the economy so i get a call the following day from the dealer saying the loan didnt go through and that he was going to try and get it to go through some how some way so the next day he calls me and states hey i got a friend thats willing to state i work for him so the loan could go through well i thought about it and im not going to commit fraud cause this guys itching to get a sell i told him no and he stated well were going to have to make something happen other wise hes got to take the automobile back. well i stated if you are taking the automobile back i want my 800 dollar down payment back and he starts going into this prorate garbage and i read my contract and it states nothing about that any where in any of the paper work so he stated something like “you act all huge and bad on the phone why dont you act like that in person?” i then replyed “you never speak the way you do unless its on the phone nither!” so i got mad and hung up the phone i called the lender and let them know what was going on and hes been reported for this issue and then i called automax the real one not this garbage auto place and i told them this story and they told me that im entitled for a full refund of my down payment by law. well im not sure about any of this and i need some help i really need a automobile and im stuck between a rock and a hard place so what do i do? thank you for dealing with this and sorry for any punctuation.
well the guy came at 3 o clock in the morning and took the automobile even before my posted date to pay for the automobile and i called him and he states that the automobile was repoed? i called the finance company and they stated the loan never went through so how does he repo a automobile before the payment date and that didnt even have a loan on it tell me that and hes got my tag and my children automobile seat my cds a bunch of stuff the police told me it was a civil matter and that im going to have to take him to court?!?

Question by MelonM:
Car insurance rates are through the roof and I do not know why, help!?
I need help with automobile insurance, I am having some problems. Okay, I am a 21 year old single, never married, male and I got my driver’s license when I was 18 in March 2008. Now, I know my automobile insurance rates are high because I am young and a guy, but here is the problem. I see people who are about my same age who have been driving for the same amount of time as and have no accidents, violations, or tickets like me. My automobile insurance rates are ridiculously high, I mean insanely high, even compared to others my age. My younger brother even, he is had his license for a year, he is 19, and had 3 speeding tickets and still pays less than me. On average for my automobile insurance rates, getting quotes on the web range from about $ 1500 all the way up to $ 2500 for 6 months! I used old vehicles, new vehicles, safe vehicles, unsafe vehicles, each kind of car/truck you could envision and my projected rates are still through the roof.

For example, for full coverage with the minimum amounts and highest deductibles, my insurance on a 2010 Mazda 3 would be about $ 1800-$ 2300 for 6 months. However, I also got a quote for a 1997 Ford Escort and the same exact coverage is still $ 1200-$ 1300. I do not get why my rates are so much higher.

A coworker of mine is 21 years old, not married, no tickets, and has had his license since 18 like me, and he has a 2007 Mazda 6 and he only pays about $ 170 a month, which translates to about ~$ 1050 for 6 months. I put in my information including SSN on the same company’s web site that he uses (Geico) and my insurance rates are about $ 1700 for 6 months.

So my question is why are my insurance rates so high? I have no tickets, no moving violations, no accidents, nothing, and yet insurance rates are so high.

I figure SOMETHING has to be on my driving record, but I cannot envision what. How can get a copy of or look at my driving record? I just want to know why my rates are so much higher than other people, male or female, who are about my age and have been driving for about the same amount of time and yet I still pay 2x or 3x as much as me.

Please help me out! =)

Answer by ken k
get drivers abstract and then search auto insurance in your area and see whats up/anything on the web is obscene/if necessary go to bureau and see for yourself

Answer by fortyniner
Your insurance company most likely has a copy of your driving record. Give them a call and ask them if they have a copy or access to a copy. Your local DVM office will have access to your driving records as well. I think I would be asking my insurance company why my rates are so high and others you know have lower rates. I would also call around to some other insurance companies in your area and get quotes from them. If their rates are still higher ask them why the rates are so high. There has to be something that is causing your rates to be higher. Like you have already pointed out you are a 21 year old male and that alone makes the rates expensive. Maybe you need to think about getting liability insurance. It doesn’t cover anything on or any injuries to yourself or damages to your automobile but it would be a lot less rate than full coverage. You probably would not want liability insurance if you have a newer vehicle. If you have a automobile loan you are required to carry full coverage on the automobile until the loan is paid in full. It is also possible others that you have mentioned might be on their parents policy and have multi discounts on the policy that makes the rates lower. Speak with your insurance company and make them tell you why your rates are so high and call around and see what you can come up with. Get a copy of your driving record so you can show you have a clean record. You can also go to the police station and probably get a copy of your record to. Make the insurance company prove to you why your rates are so expensive.

Answer by Brad A.
Obtain a drivers history report from your DMV or insurance company.
Then look at what automobile you have and compare.

A lot of your friends are probably still on their parents insurance plan. That is why they are paying cheap premiums.

Question by bigdogchris:
How do I make an auto insurance claim for scratches through auto owners?
I purchased a used automobile a few months ago that had a near flawless finish. Over the past few months it’s been scratched several times by my nephew on his bike. We have talked and now I need to file a claim with my insurance. The marks are everywhere, back of the trunk, right rear quarter panel, hood, left rear quarter panel.

The problem is, before I knew I could claim damages, I used a touch up kit to cover the scratches and gouges so they are hard to see. But I could still take photos of them as they stand now and probably get a letter from the salesman, proclaiming the condition that he told it to me in. What else do I need to file a claim with Auto Owners? Yes, I have full coverage, including comprehensive.

——————————————

Answer by yakngirl
You need to call your insurance company and open a claim. They might send an independent adjuster, but as it’s just scratches, I doubt it. They will probably tell you to take it to a shop that will fax the estimate to them. They have a list of how much the fixes should cost and as long as the estimate is within the limits, you should be okay. You will have to pay any deductible and they will want to know how the damage occurred. Also, if the damage occurred while the automobile was parked in a driveway, they might want the owner of the home to use their homeowner’s insurance to settle the claim.

Answer by Mikey
It’s because of volume and less overhead. Those on the web services offer the lower price simply because of those reasons. Even though It’s still superior not always to look at just price, but instead look at your coverage for the price. Some of those on the web insurance places will give you the state’s bare minimum coverage. Just FYI.
