Question by tom:
How to get a cheap automobile insurance for young driver?
I have a son who is a teenager. I have a automobile who I was sharing it with my son but now he purchased his own car. He ask me to get a caheper insurance that he can affored but I’ve been looking but all of them seem to be above what he is willing to pay, I could help him pay but even it’s not enough. It there any insurace that cover for cheap or what should I do?

——————————————

Answer by Queenie
A teenage boy is one of the most costly people to insure on a car. That is facts. The only thing you can do is shop around, but it will be costly wherever you go. That is part of the responsibility of having a car.

Answer by ken k
if he is under 18 he has to go on yours/make the arrangements

Answer by Otto
“Above what he is willing to pay”? He might not like it, but if he wants to drive, he needs to pay what they stipulate. Teenage boys are the highest risk category and as such, rates are the highest. He might not like it but those are the facts. Shop around for rates. The cheapest is not necessarily the ideal deal. You want coverage that will stand up if there is a problem.

——————————————

Question by senthilvka:
Auto Insurance For Young Driver In Charlotte,North Carolina?
I am planning to purchase a 2002 Nissan Sentra worth 7 Grand in the forth coming week.I am a new driver with learning permit .My age is 35 and I came recently from India.

I am trying for Insurance in different companies like GEICO,STATE Farm etc.Everywhere I get quotes like 2000$ For 6 month premium for a decent coverage.I am looking for something around 1000 – 1200 $ for 6 months.I would anticipate a maximum liability coverage ,a limited uninsured coverage and Collision Coverage with a Deductible of 1000 $ .

Any Recommendations please ?

——————————————

Answer by Jessica S
I do not know what say you are in but, first off, certain areas of the country have much higher insurance rates than others. This alone could be part of the problem. If you are getting similar quotes from insurance companies, that is probably in the area of what you can anticipate to pay anywhere. Being a new driver will greatly increase your premiums as well.

I do not know how credit reporting works with other countries, but if you do not have established or good credit, this can also affect your premium as well.

The automobile itself will also make a difference in the premium if you are carrying comprehensive and collision coverage. Even with $ 1000 deductibles, some automobiles are just very costly to insure. Perhaps think about a different car and see if that puts you more in your insurance price range.

The amount of liability you are carrying is also obviously going to affect your premium. I am not sure what your definition of maximum or minimum is so it’s kind of hard to elaborate on this. Ideally, though, you would want your uninured/underinsured coverage to match your liability limits. That is for your protection in case you are severly hurt by an uninsured/underinsured driver.

Answer by Jen
There is a site where you can compare a bunch of different insurance companies to find out which one will give you the ideal price. You can try a comparison site like Progessive through this page, too. Most of them will give you quotes on the web so you do not even have to speak to anyone if you do not want to. I would advocate staying away from Say Farm; from what I hear, they are always pretty expensive.

Question by Naimah habibi:
What would be my ideal choice for automobile insurance for a young person?
Im 21 driving a wagon car. Only have gotten in one crash in my life, stupid diction to make an illegal u turn. other then that iv always been a great safe driver. i even drive under the speed limit !
so what would be my ideal choice for automobile insurance? progressive, gico, say farm, AAA? WHAT! i need great coverage that is super cheap!

——————————————

Answer by StephenWeinstein
Anyone under 25 can’t get “super cheap” coverage. All coverage for anyone under 25 is expensive.

Each company charges a different price for each customer. Which company is least costly for you might not be the same as which company is least costly for another person.

To see which company is least costly for you, you should call all the companies (except Geico and Progressive; use their websites instead) and get the prices that they will charge you, which will not be the same as the prices that they charge everyone else, and see which is lowest for you.

——————————————

Question by Alesia D:
What is some good cheap automobile insurance for young adults between the ages of 18-24?
And I mean automobile insurance that you do not have to pay over 100 dollars for.

——————————————

Answer by missjay
I’m with east wood they are not that huge but they get the job done and only pay 90 month and 86 for the first month

Answer by Insuranceman
Typically, insurance rates will vary from Say to Say and can even vary by ZIPCODE! It also will depend on the type of car/truck, coverages, limits of liability, and driving record. Some companies run credit scores and MOST run a motor car report and CLUE (Comprehensive Loss Underwriting Exchange) report to see about undisclosed accident involvement.

The ideal thing to do is call a LOCAL independent agent. Do not go across town, or to some other city – look for someone CLOSE. Just look in the phone book for the PIA or Huge I (Trusted Choice) logos and you will find a professional licensed agent that will be able to help you solve your insurance problems, and give you rate comparisons of several different companies.

An independent insurance agent will normally have a dozen different companies and if he can’t help you, he should be networked with other local agents that can.

In my agency, we have companies that do NOT run a credit score and welcome drivers with “less than perfect” driving records.

Most of the replies on this site state “go to this on-line carrier or that on-line carrier or that 1-800 number” but I am sure that when you do, you will find some impersonal personal user with a script to work from and you will not be able to speak with the same person each time you have a problem!

Good luck, drive RESPONSIBLY and I hope this helps!

——————————————

Question by Papsilo:
which automobile insurance company provides the ideal rates to young teens (16-22)?

——————————————

Answer by bull_rooster_aardvark
Try Amica, i just switched insurance n ot so long ago and they were one of the best/ highest rated. You can check the ratings yourself with an on the web search or via consumer reports (at your library for free). Not sure specifically about younger drivers but they seem good for about everyone.

Answer by mbrcatz17
Depends on the violation.

There aren’t exactly a whole bunch of insurance companies dying to write SR22′s on kids. So you are GOING to end up with a high risk policy. How much? Depends on the violation, actually.

So check with Geico, Safe Auto, Progressive, and Leader Infinity. You will probably end up with one of those four.

**Amica is a GREAT company, but they are strict with underwriting. I seriously doubt they will even give you a quote, as soon as you state “SR-22″.**

Answer by James W
There are a lot of factors that can make one company have superior rates than another for young drivers.
Insured’s Address
Credit Score
Driving History
Type of Car
Whether they have Driver Training and Honor Roll

Never believe someone if they state one company has the ideal rates for young drivers, because several companies have the ideal rates for young drivers depending on many factors.

——————————————

Question by Sam:
What to do about Young Driver’s automobile insurance?
I’m 17 and currently looking at buying my first automobile with insurance sometime during next year. I have been looking around on a lot of price comparison sites and the cheapest I could honestly find was £3,000 a year. I even tried putting myself on my father’s insurance through them and it was still in the 3000′s. I have tried with a number of cars, mainly from group 4 insurance as anything below that tends to be really new automobiles that boost up your premium. Ideally, I’d like to purchase my friends Peugeot 306 off him which is a 1.9 diesel that is usually really cheap to insure compared to most other “first cars”. However since this large insurance increase I am finding it impossible to get prices below £3000.
Does anyone know of anyone specialist insurance sites for young drivers that offer cheaper prices or does anyone have any tips for filling out the forms to lower the price? I have tried everything I possibly can but I might have missed some important thing. I just know I do not want to pay £3000 a year for a automobile that I am buying for £400. I see no logic there, what so ever. I’d rather crash my automobile and then purchase another 6 of them.
Also, I live in the UK so we use different websites.

——————————————

Answer by Entidtil
You might be looking in the wrong places. On the web quotes are notoriously inaccurate and unreliable. Ring some local insurance companies that have an office staffed by some professional insurance agents.

——————————————

Question by Ararar Sasasa:
Car insurance for young male drivers, its cheaper to drive without it and pay the fines!?
I really dont get it, automobile insurance on a 2000 plate 1litre yaris is over £10,000 – YES 10K!

I do live in manchester, which is the most pricey post code to get insured in but 10k is just a joke for a 18year old. Ive done it all correct too putting 1000 annual milage e.t.c

So ive read on the web about how much people are fined when they are found driving without insurance and its about 200 on average. I know it can go upto 5000 but thats still cheaper than shelling out for insurance and your chances of getting caught arnt really high the way i would do it.

Get a car, insure my father on the automobile so it doesnt flag up on the police cameras when you drive past, drive to and from work only, and state the automobile is parked at work (nice postcode to get insurance cheaper) over night. which i can state it is my brother takes it on his night shift there.

And if i do get caught i will state i took it without owners concent. TWOC the police call it.

I just cant get it into my head at why the government dont do anything about insurance it kind of pushes people into breaking the law.

And i would use public transport IF it didnt take me 4hours to get to and from work a day! ¬¬
They dont jail people for driving without insurance, you just get fined and your liscence taken away.

Its not america where you get shot and shit for drink driving lolol.

But if i did crash i could give my fathers details over, go home and then go through the insurance.

——————————————

Answer by Sandra R
If you get caught driving without insurance your ass will be grass. It is not just about the monetary effects of the fines, they can jail you and take away your license all together. It sucks massive but do not muck about with this.

Answer by scoutma53
Thing is, if you are in an accident you can be personally sued for untold thousands and financially ruined for the rest of your life.

Answer by Jason F
I’m guessing that you missed out on the fact they can take your license? Impound the automobile with fees to get it back (or scrap it if not paid within 14 days)? And do you really the police are going to purchase you took a car without permission if you get caught doing it more than once? Or that there are also penalties for someone giving you a car to drive when you are not insured?

You might find that having your license suspended or revoked for driving without insurance causes those rates to remain high for years to come – on top of the court costs and other items.

——————————————
I have recently passed my driving test, and was wondering which automobile insurance provider is cheapest as most of them seem to be very expensive!

——————————————

Answer by Keeleyjade x
well, it depends. What car/litre you have? If you are a boy, insurance is usually more expensive.. I had a 1.2 ford fiesta for my first automobile and was insured with Direct Line for over £1000 and that was the cheapest! I then got a 1.6 KA Sport a few months later and Direct Line just wouldnt insure on a 1.6 so im not with Admiral for about £600 a year – bearing in mind i have no no claims, £600 is very cheap!

Try using www.confused.com for price comparisons!

Answer by mbrcatz
Which jeans fit everyone best? Just like jeans, there is no “one size fits all”. And just like cars, you cannot get something for less than it’s worth.

If you are looking for $ 200 a year automobile insurance for a new driver, it’s not out there. For a new, young driver, it’s going to be much more costly than an older, experienced driver. How MUCH? Well, that depends on what kind of car, and what coverages, not to mention where you live. If you are under 20, most companies do not run a credit check – you are just automatically given the highest rates.

There’s no short cut. You have to shop around, to see who’s cheapest for YOU.

Answer by James G
An addition to what mbrcaz said. If you have an account with your local credit union check with them to see if they have any discounts with automobile insurance providers. Many do have this type of thing which can save you uber money.

Good Luck

Question by MW My World:
Car insurance idvise? (Young Driver)?
Can someone please give me advise, i am 18 and a guy, i need a company that will insure for a reasonable price, like £1800 a year at most for my age.

I would really like a citroen saxo but i want the look of the vtr, but its a 1.4 at smallest and i hate the look of the basic model. Can you get a 1.1 or 1.2 saxo with look of vtr/vti?

Plus, could you provide a list of automobiles good on insurance for my age and companies that give good quotes online.

*NOTE* Not confused.com they suck (:

P.S do you need to notify insurance companies if you put a set of speakers in your car? like does it count as a modification towards the price?

Thank you.

——————————————

Answer by Mcgee
I am an auto insurance adjuster that deals primarily with automobile theft and stereo theft. So to answer your question, yes you need to purchase additional insurance for any aftermarket speakers or modifications that you make to your vehicle. Insurance policies only covers OEM (Original Equipment from the Manufacturer) equipment.

The reason is because you present a higher risk for your automobile to be broken into. Your insurance will already be out the roof since your 18. Good god…if your paying 1800 pounds, thats nearly $ 3500 here which is totally insane.

Answer by tmy1234
want some real advise???

right first off.. dont purchase a saxo, 106, corsa, nova or anything else that “boy racers” have. even if your not a boy racer the insurance company will class you as one.

save some money on your insurance and put it towards a different car.

bigger automobiles eg: 5 doors will be cheaper so long as they aint m3′s etc.
newer huge automobiles are a lot safer and superior to drive than boncey olds saxos and in a lot of cases just as quick.

you might think im some old git but im only 26! i had a 211bhp crx v-tec at 17 and a 321bhp bmw M3 evo at 19! and never paid over 800 quid…..

ive now go a e46 325i and it great!

thats an idea.. you can get a e46 bmw about a w reg 318 for lets than two grand. 150bhp plus its a BMW. i bet that would be less than a saxo. have a look on ebay there is loads.

anyway good luck

Answer by Sonia
Try Go compare and Quinn direct

Cars- Fiestas, Corsa’s, and clios are cheaper on insurance

——————————————

Question by skaterdanny2003:
Car Insurance for young people?
I know I can go on the web and get a quote by entering in a bunch of information.. But generally speaking.. How much would insurance be for
1.) an 18 year old female college student with good grades, no accidents or tickets.
2.) a 20 year old male college student with good grades and 1 speeding ticket

Asking about general liability for a semi-decent car.

Any other information would be great =]

——————————————

Answer by khronicgtr
It depends more on the sex, where the automobile is driven and stored (street, garage, etc), age of the person, the type of car, the security device in the automobile (lowjack, onstar, etc), and sometimes color too(red automobiles espeacially), also marital status(single, married, divroced, etc). Insurance would cost more for a male than a female mostly. There are many other factors to think about too, but those are just a few to name.
